Free Tickets for New York City Morning Television Shows

If you’re on vacation the last thing you might want to do is get up early. But if you are in New York City, you might find that getting a little less sleep may be a good thing. Early risers can go see one of the many morning talk shows that are filmed in New York. Here’s information on how to obtain tickets to some of your favorite morning shows.

Live with Regis and Kelly

Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa are hosts of the show Live with Regis and Kelly. The duo begin their show with some banter, often talking about what they did the night before. That is followed by Trivia where they have a viewer call in and answer a question about the previous day’s show. Once they are done with trivia they usually move on to their guests, who often include actors, musicians, and other newsmakers.

Include your name, address, phone number, date you would like to attend the show, and the number of tickets. The maximum number of tickets per request is 4. The show is booked up to a half-year in advance.

Stand-by tickets are available for Live with Regis and Kelly and are often offered. To get them show up to the studio at 67th Street and Columbus Avenue around 7:00 a.m. Tickets are given on a first-come, first-served basis, so the earlier you arrive, the better. The show tapes Monday-Friday at 9:00 a.m.

The View

The View will be getting its own makeover soon with the addition of new co-host Rosie O-Donnell. Once O’Donnell arrives, a search for another co-host to replace Star Jones will begin. In the meantime, a bevy of celebrity co-hosts like Katherine McPhee (American Idol) and Shannen Doherty (Beverly Hills 90210, Charmed) can be seen taking up the empty spot.

Presently, The View’s official website says they have take all the ticket requests they can. When tickets are available, you can request them by sending a postcard with your name, daytime phone number, address, and date preferences to:

Those granted tickets are notified when they recieve their tickets by mail. Tickets are mailed out 3 weeks before the show’s taping. Currently, there is approximately a one year wait for tickets.

If you are in New York City and want to try your luck, you may attempt to get stand-by tickets to a taping of The View. To do this, go to 320 West 66th Street (near West End Ave), the audience entrance before 10:00 a.m.. Find a View Audience Associate and get a number. Once you have the number, you will be asked to return to the stand-by line at 10:20 a.m. If there is room, stand-by number holders will be admitted in the order of their numbers.

All audience members must be 16 years of age.

Good Morning America

To go see Good Morning America, go to the show’s website and fill out the ticket request form. The information you will be asked for are dates for the show you want to see, your name, number of guests, phone number, and email address. If there is something particularly interesting about you or your party you can let the show know by writing about it on your form. If they like it, you may end up on air.

For large groups, 20 or more people, you can call the Audience Coordinator at 212-580-5176.

If you are given tickets then be sure to keep a few things in mind: you may bring signs and cameras, you may not bring any big bags or gifts for the hosts, and there is no age limit.
