Fun Things To Entertain the Kids in Lewisville, Texas

Ok, so you live in Lewisville and your kids are bored. Maybe you are new to the area and aren’t sure what you can do to entertain the kids. You don’t have to drive all the way to Dallas to find things to do that your kids will love. Here are some suggestions that are enjoyable and won’t empty your wallet.

Putt Putt Fun Center: Located on I-35 and FM 407 at 1951 Summit Avenue, Putt Putt Fun Center is a hot spot for children. Start of with some video games, eat some pizza and then go outside to play putt putt (miniature golf), practice your batting swing in the batting cages or drive on the speedway.

Know Before You Go:

Golf is open to all ages and includes one round of 18-hole mini-golf.

Children must be at least 58 inches tall to drive the Race Zone track, but any size child can ride the junior racetrack. It is easier for children to drive the junior racecars with good shoes. Flip-flops and sandals slip off easily when driving.

BatZone: 1 batting token is $1, purchase 7 tokens for $5

Games and Arcade: You must purchase tokens to play the games at Putt Putt Fun Center. One token is .25, or you may purchase 24 tokens for $5 or 60 for $10. Kids earn credits to trade for prizes.

Package Deals: You can pay per attraction, but Putt Putt Fun Center offers package deals if your kids want to do more than one attraction.

$13.00 for three attractions

$45.00 for a Family Package, which includes 10 attraction tickets

Also, look for specials during the week and they trade game tokens for good report card grades, too.

Hours:

10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday

10 a.m. to midnight on Friday

11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday.

Cinemark Vista Ridge Movies 8

Where else can you take the kids to see movies for only $1.00 and better yet, only .50 on Tuesdays? Cinemark Vista Ridge Movies 8 located at 420 Oakbend Drive is the place to go! The movies they feature are not “first run”, but they still show movies that kids want to see. Wait for movies you don’t want to pay $6.00 a ticket and see them here. Ticket prices are $1 before 6 p.m., $1.50 after 6 p.m. and .50 all day on Tuesdays.

Know Before You Go:

The movies are cheap, but the concessions aren’t. Be prepared to pay regular movie prices for drinks, popcorn and candy.

If your kids are into video games, this theater has a small arcade on the side. Bring some quarters because your kids will want to play.

AMF Bowling Lanes

Bowling is a game that almost everyone can play and enjoy. The AMF Lewisville Bowling Lanes is a great place for kids to learn the basics of bowling. The lanes are located at 1398 W. Main Street. They are more than happy to put bumpers down for the kids, too. AMF also has an arcade, billards and a snack bar. Prices vary depending on shoe rental and ages. They often offer specials on Sundays morning when bowling costs $5 for the first game and $1 for each game afterwards.

Know Before You Go:

The bowling center often holds bowling tournaments and leagues. Lanes do fill up quickly. Call ahead at (972) 436-6575 to see if lanes are available or to request a lane.

Hours are: Monday and Tuesday 1 p.m.-12 a.m., Wednesday and Thursday 9 a.m.-12 a.m., Friday and Saturday 9 a.m.-2 a.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m.-11 p.m.

Lewisvill Lake Fishing Barge

Load up your poles and fishing gear and head over to the Lewisville fishing barge located at Lake Park. Lake Lewisville is a 29,592-acre lake located just north of Dallas. Lewisville Lake is the perfect spot to fish for catfish, crappie, and white bass. Lake Park is located along the shore of the lake, just east off of Mill Street. The park includes beaches, a playground, campsites, fishing barges and picnic areas. Pack a picnic and let your let your children have a great time playing and fishing.

Know Before You Go:

Anyone over the age of 17 must have a current fishing license. Children under the age of 17 and those born before September 1, 1930 are exempt from obtaining a license. Additionally, those who are mentally disabled are also exempt.

Fishing on the barge costs $7 for adults and $3.50 for kids ages five and under. Senior citizens are free.

Vista Ridge Mall

Malls are not usually the first things that come to mind when you think of entertaining the kids, but Vista Ridge Mall located right off of I-35 at 2401 South Stemmons, loves kids! The mall has an awesome 1,500 square feet of free kids play area sponsored by the Medical Center of Lewisville and The City of Lewisville. The Old Town Lewisville Playtown is the perfect spot to meet up with some friends and let the kids go wild. It features a soft foam fire engine slide, stethoscope balance beam and even a feed mill with sound sensors in the floor.

After playing at the play zone, check out the Texas Teddy Bear Factory. Kids can choose a stuffed animal-and there’s more than just bears, stuff it and then pick out clothes. The factory is reasonably priced and both boys and girls will love making their very own animal. If you have girls you have to try Libby Lu-the ultimate in girl pampering. The mall is also home to the Explorit Zone, found on the upper level near Dillard’s. The fees vary at this play area that features a science and art center, puppet theater, rock climbing wall and a town market.

There are also plenty of places to get a bite to eat for lunch or dinner and to get a quick snack. Kids might enjoy an ice cream for Dairy Queen or a fresh baked cookie.

Know Before You Go:

The Old Town Lewisville Playtown is geared more for smaller kids. Older kids may get bored easily.
