Getting Your Kids Ready for School

Parents with younger school age children play a big part in getting their kids ready and off to school. This is a process. It can be a little tricky when there’s more than one child to get ready each morning. Here are five helpful suggestions on getting your kids ready for school in the morning…

One…
Bathe them the night before. Giving your child their bath or shower the night before ensure that they will be all fresh and clean in the morning. It can also save a lot of much needed time in the morning too. However, if your child is one who wets in the night, an AM shower is a necessity. This way your child will not go to school smelling of urine.

Two…
Check backpacks for important papers and homework when the kids come home from school each afternoon. Have backpacks all ready for in the morning, to grab and go. Homework isn’t meant to be done in the mornings. It’s best done after school, at night. It is also better to have all papers signed and ready to return before the morning they are due back. Same goes for library books that need to be returned, bus pass notes, and excuses 🙂

Three…
A lot can be done the night before to make morning go much more smoothly. This includes picking out your child’s school clothes for the day. When the clothes are picked out the night before they are all set and ready in the morning. Setting them in the same spot each night helps your child to know where they are. No more fighting over getting dressed! Your child can just grab his clothes from that spot and get dressed. It’s so simple 🙂

Four…
Once all of the above is done, when it’s done the night before, all you have is two things left to do. Feed your child breakfast. This is a very important part of getting your child ready for school. Kids need a healthy breakfast each morning in order to learn and concentrate. Having so much already done in the morning allows plenty of time for your children to sit down to this essential meal.

Five…
The last things done before heading out the door are basic hygiene. Have your children brush their teeth, comb their hair, wash their hands, and wash their faces. These things are important too, and keep your kids looking their best.

Morning don’t have to be so hectic. Try some of these simple steps to free up time in your mornings. When a good routine is established it will be a breeze to get your kids all ready and out the door each morning 🙂
