Getting a Good Price on a Las Vegas Strip Hotel
Go during the week. Timing is everything. If you decide to take a trip to Las Vegas, stay Sunday through Thursday. You can save as much as $50 per night by booking during the week. This can bring your price down to well within a reasonable amount for a good hotel room. Plus, as a bonus, many hotels offer special discounts to shows at the hotel or at other hotels owned by the same company. Another timing issue is season. Show up at the end of February or beginning of March and find a better rate than around the holidays or during the summer.
Stay at the “family friendly” establishments. Some of the hotels on the strip are considered more family friendly than other hotels. You do not have to show up with kids to get a good deal at these places, however. They just naturally cost less. The Mirage, Excalibur, and Circus, Circus cost less than hotels like the MGM Grand, the Venetian, and the Bellagio. You can save a few bucks, and there is nothing to prevent you from attending a fight at the MGM Grand, riding the gondolas at the Venetian or enjoying the Bellagio’s famous flower garden.
Look for Internet specials. This is a tried and true method for getting a discount on anything. Checking on of those travel sites can help you find a decent room rate plus help you book a flight and reserve a rental car. However, if all you want is a hotel room, a travel site may not be your best option. Many hotels offer special rates when you book online, and these rates are often even lower than the rates offered on travel sites. Some of the hotels, like the Excalibur, actually guarantee to offer the lowest rates. If you find a lower rate online, the Excalibur will refund the difference. Some hotels even have special arrangements with rental car places and can help you save money on a rental.
Avoid the conventions. Finally, avoid staying in a hotel that is hosting a convention at the time you are in Las Vegas. There are plenty of strip hotels to go around, and you are likely to find a large, themed hotel that is convention-free on your preferred date. Conventions fill up the hotel, causing space to be at a premium. Hotels charge higher rates when you try to get in during a convention (unless, of course, you are part of the convention).
Staying at a good hotel on the Las Vegas Strip is not a pipe dream that needs to be saved up for. With some careful planning, it is possible for you to get a good deal and stay in a fun Las Vegas hotel-casino.
