Great Campgrounds in Georgia
Lake Pines Camp Ground. Lake Pines, located in Columbus, Ga., is home to many beautiful lakes and nature walks. There are cabins available, but of course, you can bring your tent to pitch on site. There is a recreation room with a television and games, along with a pool, and you can even plan events on the campgrounds, such as wedding receptions or family get-togethers. Lake Pines also has a laundry facility, and the property has an authentic barn that can also be used for parties or meetings. There are both weekly and monthly rates available, and the site is minutes from downtown Columbus and Fort Benning.
Creekwood Cabins. Creekwood Cabins is also an RV resort, with lots of activities available for visitors. The Cabins are very close to Unicoi State Park, home of beautiful nature walks and lakes. You can also take a hike on Raven Cliff Falls Trail, or Rocky Cove to enjoy the beautiful scenery and get some exercise (even on vacation). Anna Ruby Falls is also a beautiful feature of the campgrounds, and there are even a few swamps you can visit, like Woods Creek. The cabins on site are beautiful, complete with fireplaces, spiral staircases, and even hot tubs. The RV resort is very nice as well, and include full hook ups and picnic tables. Other activities include group nature walks, fishing, and white water rafting.
Black Rock Mountain State Park. Clayton, Ga. is home to Black Rock Mountain State Park, which is open year-round. This 1,738 acre parks offers a great view of the southern Appalachians. There are ten cottages available on the grounds and 48 tent or RV sites, which are wheelchair accessible. There are many activities to take advantage of at Black Rock Mountain, including bird watching, and nature walks, including nature viewing for different types of animals. Fresh-water fishing is also available in the park, as well as hiking trails, backpacking, and even guided tours. An entry fee is charged, but prices for lodging are fairly affordable.
Whether you want to plan a camping trip weeks in advance or just want spend the weekend outdoors, these campgrounds are ideal for either type of trip. There are also children’s activities at each of these campsites, including nature walks for kids, canoeing, and picnics.
