Great Halloween Costume Ideas: Superheroes
This holiday season is a time to just have fun. Since X-Men (the movie) first came out, a trail of similar superhero films have followed in its wake. Some were extremely successful; such as, Tobey Maguire in Spider-Man or Christian Bale in Batman Begins. Some may not have been as widely accepted or known; such as the recently finished Blade Trilogy. Some were miserable failures; such as, Daredevil or Hulk. But, superheroes continue to WOW us despite how poor or amazing the film that features them is.
Finding the most affordable costumes is easy. BuyCostumes.com offers respectable costumes for reasonable prices. But if you are looking for the highiest quality, sites such as Halloweenexpress.com has some amazingly authentic costumes. Here is a list of all the cheap and expensive costumes, and all of the various websites to find them.
Adult Costumes:
For guys, you might check out the $500.99 “Batman Costume – Deluxe (from 1997 movie)” at HalloweenExpress.com. It comes with almost everything. I don’t know what “cowling” means, but I’m guessing it is the headpiece. The sizes this site has available are Large (42-44) and X-Large (44-46). If you aren’t a fan of the 1997 “Blockbuster” Batman & Robin, check out the Batman costume from Batman Begins.
Then there is the less extravagant but more affordable $48.99 “Batman DC Comics Version Deluxe Adult” at BuyCostumes.com. This costume doesn’t come with everything, but it is close. You get the boot tops, the belt, the headpiece and cave, but they don’t seem to include gloves. You can also find the more authentic Batman utility belt, the grappling hook and Bat-a-rang at BuyCostumes.com. This costume comes in medium and large sizes.
Of course, you can always try the spectacular $799.99 “Batman Collector Edition” at HalloweenMart.com. This costumes does come with pretty much everything. You might want to include the accessories listed above to complete the authenticity of this great costume, but I think it speaks for itself. However expensive it is, this costume is perfect for all fans of any given Batman. The costume’s chest fits the standard adult sizes 42-44.
If you really want to look like the caped crusader but still keep from going broke, the next best costume is the “Batman Begins Deluxe Adult” for $48.99. I don’t think this costume is perfect. Its headpiece looks funny. But I think if it had the right “cowling?” I think it would be a great costume for anyone who can’t afford the above “Batman Collector Edition”. For those of you who want a better mask, check out the “Batman Deluxe Mask Adult” at BuyCostumes. This Batman Begins Deluxe Adult costume comes in Medium, Large and X-Large sizes.
If Batman isn’t your thing, Superman could make a formidable presence at any costume party. Take the muscular $340.99 “Superman Supreme” that is currently out of stock at HalloweenExpress.com. It includes a rental quality muscle chest, logo-attached top, pants, briefs, boots, cape and belt. This costume comes in Medium (38-42), Large (42-46), and X-Large (46-48) sizes.
New for 2006, BuyCostumes.com has a “Superman Returns Deluxe Adult” costume for $46.99. This costume is great for those fans of Superman Begins. It includes almost everything. It comes in adult sizes: Medium, Large and X-Large.
Also on the same site is the “Superman Adult XL” for $49.99. Great for any fan of Superman, comic or movie. Including almost everything, this comes in the adult size of adult X-Large (46-48).
For the ladies, you can go as Batman’s sidekick with “Batgirl” for $59.99 on HalloweenMart.com. It’s a form-fitting sexy little outfit that would make Batman himself look stunned. As it includes almost everything, this costume comes in X-S (coming soon), S (coming soon), and M (coming soon).
Or, found on the same site is the $389.99 “Batgirl Collector’s Dlx“. Sleek and sexy, while it may be expensive this item is great for fans. It includes practically everything. It comes in such sizes as Small (4-6), Medium (6-8), and Large (10-12).
For those young adults, girls can be the sexy sidekick with the new for 2006, $48.99 “Batman Batgirl Teen” on BuyCostumes.com. It includes a yellow bat logo, attached black cape, glovelets, black character eyemask (may differ from picture), yellow vinyl belt, and black boot tops. It comes in standard teen size (7-9).
The guys can be the head of the Incredible household, Mr. Incredible himself with the $62.99 “Mr. Incredible Muscle Adult” on BuyCostumes.com. It comes in the adult size of 46. This Incredible costume isn’t complete. Check out the Super Hero Boots Black Adult for 34.99 and complete this ensemble.
Ladies, you can go as Mrs. Incredible with the new for 2006 $39.99 “The Incredibles Mrs. Incredible” on the same sight. It includes a polyester jumpsuit with The Incredibles logo, an orange belt, and a black eye mask. But again, boots are not included. This item fits up to a size 12-14.
Guys, go as the greatest superhero of all, the amazing Spider-Man with the $370.99 “Spiderman Comic Deluxe Rental Quality” offered on HalloweenExpress.com. This full-body suit is perfect for fans of the movies or the comic book. It comes with attached hand and foot covers, and a seperate character hood. It comes in adult sizes Small to Medium.
Or, you can go with the more affordable and traditional “Spider-Man Comic Adult” on BuyCostumes.com for $43.99. While it may not look the coolest, this costume is fitting for those fans of Spider-Man. It includes a nylon bodysuit with a full Spiderman over-the-head hood with holes for your nose and eyes, and ties in back. It fits up to a 38″ waist. But, complete the ensemble with the $7.49 Spiderman Comic Gloves.
There are many ways and places to get the costume or costumes you want this Halloween. If you can’t afford the prices listed above, check out what they’re selling at your local Wal-Mart or Halloween store. But Halloween is traditionally a time for kids to have fun, and pretend to be their heroes.
