Guide to Annual Halloween Activities on the Emerald Coast

Haunted House
On October 27th and 28th, the Boardwalk on Okaloosa Island will hold it’s 3rd annual Kid’s Haunted House. For those who don’t know, the Boardwalk is located on Highway 98. Look for the bright signs for FlÃ?³yd’s and the Gulfarium. This event is sponsored by Kitty Hawk kites, and is for kids 10 and under. It runs for 2 days, from 6 to 8pm. Trick or Treating for the kids will follow, so make sure they wear their costumes!

10th Annual Halloween 5 / 10K Run
Also on October 28th, McGuire’s Irish Pub of Destin will be the starting point of the 10th Annual Halloween 5/10K Run. The course will wind along scenic Choctawhatchee Bay, with individuals running along quiet, mossy as well as palm tree-lined streets. The race will end in Clement Taylor Park on Calhoun Avenue in Destin. Clement Taylor Park is a 3.5 acre park on the Bay which has a waterfront gazebo, pier, pavilion, swim area, and picnic area – the perfect place to relax those muscles after the run.

You have to register for this event. It costs $15 thru October 18th, then $17 October 19th thru the 28th, and $20 if you register on race day. Online registration ends October 25th at 9pm.

The party after the race will feature Irish sing-alongs, Irish coffee, Irish Fare, Irish wakes, Bud Light, and also soft drinks. Refreshments are for registered runners only, so you must display your bib number to be served.

Destin Commons
On October 28th, kids ages 1 to 12 will compete for prizes, in their age group, for scariest, cutest, and most original costumes. Registration will be at 2pm. The contest begins at 3pm, followed by store-to-store Trick or Treating. This event is held on Main Street in Destin Commons.

Also, take your scary, frightening costumed children to Destin Commons on Halloween night. They will love Trick or Treating around the stores from 5pm-7pm.

Halloween Hash
Join in the fun with the Siete Cerveza Hash House Harriers as we celebrate Halloween with a hash run. We will meet at 6:30pm on October 31st at Publix by Brooks Bridge. Even though it’s customary to wear your Halloween costume, keep in mind we do run a few miles, so be comfortable. This annual “Halloweenie Hash” will cost $5. We may be too old in the real world, but in this hash house, no one is ever too old to trick or treat. So bring treats (or tricks if you wish) to give out to everyone! Visit www.sietecerveza.com for more information.

Sandestin Halloween
Sandestin offers Halloween fun for the young and “young at heart.” There will be trick or treating at The Market Shops at Sandestin on Emerald Coast Parkway from 4 to 6 pm. Afterwards, you can head to the Village of Baytowne Wharf for Baytowne trick or treating from 6 to 8 pm. To end the night, enjoy Spooky Fireworks at the Village Events Plaza.

AJ’s Halloween Party
Come out October 28th for AJ’s Halloween Party! AJ’s is located on Highway 98 on the Destin Harbor. Wear your costumes and enjoy special Halloween deals and lots of fun at Club Bimini, upstairs from the restaurant.

Club Bimini features a full service cocktail selection and bar menu. You can also get a fresh fried shrimp basket to settle your cravings for munchies. The Club’s live bands will set the party mood with awesome tunes. Shake your stuff on their open-air dance floor and celebrate Halloween all night long.
