Lake George, New York is the perfect place for a family vacation. Nestled in the foothills of New York’s Adirondack Mountains, it offers something for everyone all year long. You can start your day browsing through the small shops of Lake George Village. (If you like bargains there are factory outlet stores.) and end it having dinner aboard a steam boat as it cruises the lake. And in between there is so much to do you will find it hard to make up your mind.

You can visit Six Flags Great Escape and Great Water Kingdom. Where the kids can meet Looney Toons and Justice League Characters. Go rafting or tubing on the Hudson River. Play in one of the many arcades, take a hot air balloon ride, visit the zoo, play golf, regular or miniature, go horse back riding, visit a museum or a haunted house, ride a go cart, visit a wild west town, rent a boat or take a charter fishing boat, Visit Fort William Henry. Not up to having dinner on the water? There are over 20 restaurants to choose from with a taste and style for everyone. How about camping or Rv’ing? There are 13 camp grounds to choose from, and there are dozens of biking and hiking trails. There are many special events every month of the year including arts and craft shows, open air concerts, farmer’s markets and a whopper of a Forth Of July Celebration; You get the idea. There is so much to do. Lake George is much more than a Lake. How about in the spring , fall and winter. Lake George is also much more than just summer

In the spring, .when the snow starts to melt in the mountains, and the resulting water rushes into the river, it is the best time for white water rafting, be ready for wild ride. In May you can watch competitive rafters race against each other in the annual White Water Derby. Are you a motorcycle enthusiast? Then come to Lake George in June for the Americade Rally. There will be about 30,000 participants.

In the fall the mountains turn every color of the rainbow.. Make sure not to forget the camera.. Come the weekend after Labor day and visit the Adirondack Nationals Car Show. In mid September there is the Adirondack Balloon Festival. There are over 100 hot air balloons Planning a wedding? How about having it at the festival Imagine the views of the mountains from high up in the air. And what is fall without a great big celebrations called Oktoberfest. Lake George has more than one.

And then there is Winter.. The Lake George region has some great cross country ski trails, as well as snowmobile trails. Ever try ice fishing? It is an experience for sure. Lake George is also near major ski resorts such as Gore Mountain. And the big event of the winter, the Lake George Winter Festival. You can also visit the North Pole and meet Santa.
