The city is pretty spread out so there is a good chance that many of your destinations would be quite a walk. Buses.

The bus system in Allentown, Pennsylvania as in most cities remains the cheapest and most reliable source of transportation in the city. The Lehigh And Northampton Transportation Authority (LANTA) operates and and maintains the bus system. The buses can pretty much take you most places but they don’t run 24 hours a day. They do have a night owl and starlight service but they don’t run 24 hours and the services are limited. The only criticism I have for the city bus system is the lack of 24 hour service. If you depend on the bus to get to a second shift job, you will have to take a taxi, walk, or catch a ride home from someone when you get off of work. If you work a third shift job, you will need to take a taxi, walk or catch a ride TO your job. If you have to depend on the bus to get to work, do you best to secure a first shift position. Fares are very reasonable at $1.75 per ride but the most commonly used is the All Day Pass which gives you unlimited rides all day for only $2. The only cab company in Allentown, Pennsylvania is “Quick Service Taxi Inc”. They can be reached at 1-610-434-8132. A few things about this cab company. The drivers are generally courteous and nice, the cars aren’t spotless but not filthy either but because they are the ONLY taxi service in Allentown, Pennsylvania, they are very busy. The average wait during daylight hours for a cab is about 45 min after you call them so plan accordingly. They are not cheap either. A taxi ride from center city Allentown to the Leigh Valley Mall (about 4 miles) will cost you about $10 to $12 each way. They’re pretty honest too. They don’t take the long way around and milk you of your money. During the time I lived there and used public transportation, I used taxis only when absolutely necessary.

These are the only sources of public transportation available in Allentown, Pennsylvania. A cheap alternative would be to walk to your destinations. It won’t kill you and it will get you in shape.
