Guide to Public Transportation in San Diego
The Metropolitan Transportation System is the name of the public transportation in San Diego. Here are the main types of transportation in San Diego.
Busses
The public busses in San Diego are considered the most popular type of transportation. Busses travel all over San Diego County. No matter what part of San Diego you are in there is always a bus that takes to get you somewhere. Depending on type of bus you take will depend on how much it will cost. The cost for busses in the city area of San Diego usually cost $2.25 per ride. However, if you get a transfer you can be able to ride other busses, as well as the Trolley. Trolley
If you want to get around San Diego faster you can always hop on one of the Trolley Lines. The two main trolley lines are the Blue Line and the Orange Line. The Trolley fair differs also but is usually $2.00 for a round trip ticket. Trolleys in San Diego go as far as East County, San Diego State University, Tijuana, and other locations. The Breeze
The Breeze is the bus system in the North county area of San Diego. This Bus system has different routes that go to Del mar, San Clemente, Escondio, Fallbrook, and even busses that go to the Orange County area. For more information you can check out the North County Transit District website.
Coaster
The coaster is like a train that goes from Oceanside to San Diego. The coaster has 4 zones that go through San Diego County. Zone 1 is Oceanside and Carlsbad. Zone 2 is Carlsbad, Encinitas, and Solana Beach. Zone 3 is Sorrento Valley, and Zone 4 is Old town transit center, and San Diego. The Sprinter
The sprinter will be a new addition to San Diego County’s public transportation. It will be similar to the coaster, but it only stays in the North County area of San Diego. The sprinter will run through areas such as Oceanside, vista, San Marcos, and Escondido. The sprinter is supposed to be open around December of 2007.
