If you are looking for an after school program for your child, or if you want to improve your strength and flexibility, then you may want to consider taking gymnastic lessons. In Missoula, Montana you have two different options. First, you can sign up for lessons at one of the two main gymnastic facilities, or you look for a private teachers. Either one of these options will be able to teach you gymnastic skills, and guide you safely to meeting your physical goals.

Option Number One:

Bitterroot Gymnastics has been in operation for over twenty years, and it has a fully equipped gymnastic facility including balance beam, rings, tumbling mats, foam pit, parallel bars, uneven bars, and everything else that you or your child will need to develop gymnastic skills. Bitterroot Gymnastics not only teaches gymnastics for beginning, intermediate, and advanced gymnasts, but they can also tailor a gymnastic program to improve your skiing or snowboard aerial tricks, or to improve the tumbling elements in your cheerleading routine. Bitterroot Gymnastics teaches children as young as 18 months all the way to adults. You can take lessons for fun, or take lessons to prepare you for a gymnastic competition.

Mismo Gymnastics offers a wide variety of different kinds of gymnastic classes from children 18 months to adults. Mismo’s Gizmos is a developmental class for children 18 months to 6 years of age. Colors, shapes, letters, and music are integrated into this gymnastic program which will help your child develop their motor and cognitive abilities. Parent/Tot Gizmos is a family class that is for parents and their 18 month old to 3 year child. Mismo’s Flipos is open to first graders, and it is the beginning step of the United States Gymnastic Associations program. The next class is Team Mismo. This class is for girls and boys from the age of 6 up. Girls advance in this class through USGA levels 1 to 3. If they show talent and dedication, they can even try out for the gymnastic team and compete at both regional and state levels. Boys can also sign up for this class, however, their training will be centered around tumbling and trampoline skills. If you son is interested in developing his gymnastic skills and is full of energy then the boys only Mismo’s Roughnecks may be a good option. For older kids in junior high and high school Mismo Gymnastics offers a Tumbling and Trampoline class for both boys and girls. This class is great for skiers, snowboarders, and cheerleaders.

Prices will vary depending on how many classes you take and if you elect to enroll in a family plan or an individual plan. There is an annual fee of $20 per child or $35 per family. In addition to this fee there is a per class fee of $42 for a 45 minute class or $45 for a one hour class.

Option Number Three:

If neither of the above gyms seem like a good fit for you, then there is a third option, look for private trainers. You can find advertisements for private trainers in the Missoulian, the city’s daily paper, the Missoula Independent, an independent publication that is free of charge and can be found at most groceries stores, or you can check out bulletin boards at grocery stores and at the University Center on the campus of the University of Montana.
