Halloween Costume Ideas
Over the years Halloween costumes have progressed from ghosts, goblins and witches to dressing up as an M&M man or a bathroom fixture such as a commode or bathtub. If you’re trying to win a Halloween costume contest, originality and uniqueness of the costume seems to be the winning ticket. If you want to be a little more unique than just dressing up as your typical vampire, my suggestion would be to start taking notice of some of the popular celebrities that have stood out with trademark attire and style such as Napolean Dynamite or Larry The Cable Guy.
For a Napolean Dynamite costume you’ll need to have short naturally tight curly hair that can be styled to look like a “fro” parted to the side or purchase a wig. For the rest of the costume you’ll need gold men’s rectangular glasses with the bar across the top and straight-legged blue jeans tucked inside black boots. Add a t-shirt with a round neckline and don’t forget to tuck it in.
To dress as Larry The Cable Guy, you’ll need a plaid button down shirt with the sleeves cut or torn off. The shirt needs to be un-tucked and worn with blue jeans and cowboy boots. You’ll need either a natural or a fake goatee and long sideburns. A baseball cap worn with the bill in the front will complete the costume.
In memory of Steve Irwin, the Crocodile Hunter, you can dress in a Khaki short sleeved shirt, Khaki shorts and hiking boots. For added effect you can carry a stuffed crocodile.
Another idea would be the man on the cover of the movie Office Space. You’ll need to cover yourself completely in yellow Post-it Notes. Add a pair of black plastic-rimmed glasses, a necktie, dress shoes and a briefcase.
For a scarier costume, you could dress up as the girl from the movie The Ring. She wears her long black hair combed down in front of her face and a white long sleeved ankle length dress.
There are several websites online that can make selection of a Halloween costume easier. Costumes to fit just about any budget can be found ranging from around $15 to $350. You’ll need to be sure to order in plenty of time in case you need to return the costume because of defects or wrong sizes. Most sites ask that you allow a few days for processing your order, as well as shipping time.
