Have You Seen Him?

God is always there…

I don’t know the the second, the minute, the hour, the day, the month or even the year; but I do know that Majesty is coming!

Majesty is coming because the Word of God tells us so:

Matthew 26:64/Mark 13:26/Thessalonians 1 4:17

There are so many people seeking and longing for something in their lives; something meaningful, something of substance. Many think that this longing is for a man or a woman or even children. Other interpret that longing to be money, power and influence. While yet another group think it’s a need to live life as if there’s no tomorrow by chasing fun, drink and fantasy! I’ve thought at different times on my journey some of those same thoughts; but in my innermost being I knew that God was and is the center of all true satisfaction.

I didn’t grow up in a home where my parents took us to church on Sundays; although there were times we were sent to church on our own. I have a memory of being dressed in a lovely Easter outfit and being sent to a church that I now have identified as a Holiness Church. My brother and I were sitting there as spectators, as we had no idea what all the excitement was about. There was a lot of dysfunction in our household and I’ve come to realize unfortunately is not unusual for most of our society. In the mist of this discord, the strangest thing was taking place right under my nose and I didn’t know it in the natural sense at the time, but I was being taught the Gospel of Jesus Christ ? You say how can this be? I recently thought about this and I remember many times where my father had us read the bible as a practice in learning how to pronounce words and it was actually very effective because we all read well. Then there were the times we were told to watch the 700 club or even the occasions when things were really tough and I’d see my father grab his bible and cry out in prayer to God. Yes, even in the mist of the devil trying to kill, steal and destroy, God was always there.

I have many memories of reading the bible and also being told that we could pray and ask Jesus to help us when we are hurting or in trouble and I found myself doing this often. You see, I saw so much violence and heard such bad language that I couldn’t understand how someone could behave so poorly and still believe in God. I thought how, can you say with one breath that I can pray and ask Jesus for help and the next minute speak doubt and unbelief? That’s the mind of most children, they can only relate or think according to their limited knowledge. As we mature and grow and experience life we come to understand the eternal struggle between good and evil and the fact that things are not always what they seem. You see, back then I didn’t realize that the Gospel was being taught, all I could see were my circumstances. God has and is always with us, if only we would take the time to stop, listen and see with our spiritual eyes.

My heart is to see every man, woman and child in every part of the world come to the knowledge that there is a God and He so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever shall believe in Him, should not perish, but have everlasting life John 3:16. That’s my prayer for you today. Only believe…no matter what it looks like, God is always there!
