Heat Rash Relief

As if the hot weather and intense heat is not enough some people, including myself, suffer from heat rash. Heat rash, which consist of red, itchy bumps, can appear anywhere on your body – chest, back, arms, and neck to name a few places. However it doesn’t last very long, heat rash goes away in a few days granted you stay out of the sun or wear proper clothing, which may be difficult to do. I know it is for me. Even when you try to avoid the sun, just the heat will cause a rash to develop and wearing long sleeved shirts and pants in the hot summer heat is not my idea of fun and it can goes your body to overheat. So what can you do to heal heat rash quickly and get some fast relief? You can try these alternative treatments that will help to quick healing and fast relief from heat rash.

Take a cool bath with peppermint to help relieve the annoying itch of heat rash. Sounds refreshing doesn’t it? Wrap one or two cups of fresh peppermint leaves in cheesecloth, fill the bathtub with cool water and let the mint dissolve in the water for about three to five minutes, then take a nice soak in the water for five to ten minutes or longer. You can do this as often as you like to get quick relief from heat rash itching. According to Ayurvedic medicine, heat rash is caused by an imbalance of the “pitta” or fire element in the body. To promote balance of this element, take some coriander and cumin seeds. Soak one teaspoon of cumin seeds and one teaspoon of coriander seeds in twelve ounces of water and leave it out overnight. In the morning, strain, and drink the liquid. You can do this until the rash goes away.

Calendula can help speed up the healing process and provide some quick relief from heat rash. Only use a water based gel of the herb instead of creams and lotions, which will cut off the flow of air to the rash making it worse. You can also use some lavender essential oil with or without calendula. Lavender oil helps regenerate and promote healthy skin cells and can help quickly heal any skin problem. Apply a drop or two of lavender oil directly on the rash three or four times a day. You can also apply the same amount of lavender oil to calendula gel to get quicker healing and faster relief from heat rash. These alternative treatments will provide quick relief and fast healing from heat rash.
