Heavily Scented Candles: Preserve the Aroma in Your Home

Many people seem to believe that all candles are made equally. Sorry, but while that train of thought applies to humans candles such as richly scented, triple scented or heavily scented are very different. Yes, they all burn the same and they all give out a lovely aroma to spice up any room but that’s where the similarities end. Heavily scented candles have a larger amount of fragrance due to the amount of oil that is added to them during the candle making process. Most candles are made by adding one-half ounce of oil to the melted wax. However, in the heavily scented candles, this amount is tripled.

If you are buying a heavily scented candle and you want it to give out that wonderful aroma until it burns out make sure that you buy the wrapped version. Why? The fragrance from a heavily scented candle tends to evaporate when it is exposed to the air. You will know whether you have bought a heavily scented candle when you get it home and light it up. If you can smell the fragrance from the candle when you are standing far away from it, then it is a heavily scented candle. Most people that choose the heavily scented candles buy them for this purpose because they want it for decoration, not to burn it.

There are lots of different choices when buying heavily scented candles. They come in a wide range of fragrances and colors so it is very easy to find one that suits not only your nose but your eyes as well. If you want to be the one to decide how fragrant your candle is, then you can actually make your own heavy scented candles. Don’t expect to hit upon the perfect amount the first few times around. It will take a lot of experimenting to decide how much oil you want to add to your candle. The experimentation progress will take longer is you decide to combine different fragrances, however, the up side to this is that you will end up with a candle that is unique to your personality. You can also opt to have your heavily scented candle custom made. You can tell the candle maker exactly what scent and color you want and they will make it without you having to experiment or shop around for the candle that you want.

There are all different types of candles that can be considered heavily scented candles. There’s pillar, votive, tapered and tealight candles. All of these can be as heavily scented as you like. One thing you have to remember if you have candles in your home is that some people may be allergic to any scent or a specific kind of scent. If you have a friend that has these allergies and you know they are coming for a vist, remove all of the candles and store them somewhere far away from where your guest will be until after they leave. The same thing can be said about giving gifts. After all, you wouldn’t give a cat to a person with cat hair allergies would you? So if you want to give a heavily scented candle to someone for Christmas or some other occasion, try to find out if they have any allergies before you wrap that candle up.

Heavily scented candles also come in handy if you accidentally burn dinner or are cooking some type of stinky food such as cabbage. While people may enjoy the food once it’s cooked, certain foods can give off a bad odor while cooking. Heavily scented candles help cover up the odors and help keep your house smelling fresh. If the smell is heavy and one candle is not doing the trick, you can try lighting all the candles in the house. However, you need to be careful if you have bought different fragrances as not all aromas mix well together and you just might end up with a worse smell than cabbage. No one likes a stinky house even if the stink is fragrant. Too much of a good thing and all that, so be careful.

Candles are a welcome addition to most homes and will fill your house with very soothing and calming aromas. So pick the perfect scent, or scents, for you and your family, light them up, relax and enjoy!
