>Keep them in the dark.

Valuable items such as your newly-purchased plasma TV must not be seen by people passing your window’s side of the road. Putting curtains or blinds on your windows can help hinder strangers from peeking through your windows. Never leave or put expensive items such as your jewelry box near your windows.

>Lock everything.

Make sure that all your doors and windows are properly locked before you go to bed or leave home. All possible entry points to your detached garage or storage shed must also be inspected before leaving. Burglars might use your stored items in these rooms to gain entry to your house. Axes, hoes and shovels can be used to break down doors and windows. To prevent ladders from being used to climb your house’s second storey, always keep them inside your house.

>Bring it.

No matter how tricky you think you are, do not leave spare keys outside your house. Almost everybody knows such a practice-even burglars. If you’re afraid of losing your keys, then have biometric doors installed on your house. Biometric doors will open after censoring your thumbprint.

>Love the light.

Aside from keeping a light turned on at your home’s front and back entrance during night time, make sure that your yard is well lit by installing outdoor lights. To conserve energy, pick those that have motion or heat sensors. These items will only light up when they detect motion.
