Holiday Inn in Lubbock: A Review From Our Stay at This West Texas Hotel

While there on a three night, one day stay for a family reunion, we stayed at the Holiday Inn. The Four Seasons was under renovation, so my next choice was the Holiday Inn. As I walked into the hotel lobby, I faced the bar and the guest services were to my right. The hotel lobby smelled of smoke, which was also filled with people, which was not uncommon for the summer months due to family reunions and different sporting and banquet events. We were lucky to get a room.

Since I had extra guest with me I needed more space. Lucky me. Being a savers club member I saved 50% on my room. I was able to get a guest suite priced at $99 for $79. That was quite a savings for the 3 nights and a 1 day stay. We were so exhausted and so ready to go to the room that it became overwhelming. We had to patiently wait for them to locate our room in the system. Even though I had called ahead, they were having problems with my reservation. I patiently remained calm, because I was too tired to put up a fuss, after all it was 10 pm. at night and I was tired. After clearing up the fiasco about the room we were on our way to relaxing.

On entering the elevator I became a bit confused about where we were going. Actually, the suites are on a different side of the hotel from the regular rooms so we had a bit of walking and riding to do. The elevators were overly crowded and when the body is tired that’s not good, emotions may start to flare. After that journey we were finally at our destination. There was a problem, we had the wrong key to the room. By now my patience has grown really thin. But still I remained calm because I was just too tired to fight. I sent my nephew to guest services to get the correct key so I could rest my tired mind and body. He quickly came back with the key and this time is was the correct one.

On entering the room all I could do was go straight to my bed to rest for a moment. I had been driving the entire trip, non-stop from Houston to Lubbock which is an 8-10 hour ride, which could be done in seven if you know short cuts, and I was beat. After resting a couple of hours and filling my stomach with food it was time for my bath. All I could do was think of warm water touching my tired and worn body. I turned on the shower to let the water run for a few minutes like most people do as I prepared myself for my shower. The hot steam filled the room and now I’m ready to enjoy my shower. On entering the tub I started to notice that the water was a little to hot so I stuck my hand underneath the flowing waters and quickly pulled it back. Immediately, I had to remove myself from my shower and make adjustments to the water. Apparently, the hotel was having a problem with their plumbing. But I did not want to have to pay the price for it. This was a very difficult time for us all knowing that we may burn ourselves if we are not careful with the adjustments of the water flow. Once I got passed this problem, I can say that my over all stay was not what I expected, but it wasn’t so bad. The smell of smoke in the hotel almost drove me crazy because I am not a smoker, but apparently some people are. Once my body touched that warm soft bed all my worries were gone. Not my first choice, but I might go back again.
