Homemade Ways to Predict the Sex of Your Unborn Baby

I’m waiting for another branch to be added onto the family tree this year. A grandchild is on the way, and, it’s a boy. His parents took the usual route of having an ultrasound done after the baby was at least twenty weeks old. They didn’t want to be surprised about its sex. Instead, they wanted to know what colors to paint the nursery, and so on, so they could better prepare for their “bundle of joy.” But an ultrasound isn’t absolutely foolproof. Studies show that an ultrasound is between 95 and 99 percent accurate. So, why not try some homemade ways to predict the sex of your unborn baby?

By using homemade methods to determine whether your unborn baby is a boy or a girl, you have a 50/50 chance of getting it right. The odds aren’t quite as good as having an ultrasound done, but it can be rather fun to use some unscientific methods.

One of the most popular ways to predict the sex of your unborn baby is done with a piece of string and the mother’s wedding ring. Have the mother lie down on a relatively flat surface. Place the string through the ring and dangle it over her pregnant stomach. Don’t move the string yourself; keep it as still as possible. If the ring moves back and forth, then the baby is a boy. And, if the ring moves in a circular fashion, then paint the nursery pink because the baby’s going to be a girl!

Even though the medical world completely “poo poos” the idea, many mothers-to-be predict the sex of their unborn baby by the position it’s in. This method can especially be accurate if the mother has been pregnant before.

Babies who lie low inside their mother’s womb are thought to be boys. On the other hand, if your baby is positioned high, then it’s a girl.

Another homemade way to predict the sex of your unborn baby- remember, you have a 50/50 chance of being right- is to look at your breasts in front of a mirror. If your left breast is slightly larger, then your baby will be a girl. If the right breast is larger, then expect a son.

Or, if you want to try and find out the sex of your baby, you can always try the “Chinese Gender Predictor.” The story goes that this chart was found buried in a tomb in Beijing more than seven hundred years ago. The predictor uses the mother’s birthdate and the date of the baby’s conception in order to determine the sex of your unborn baby. Visit Gender to locate the predictor.

Another homemade way to predict the sex is based on numbers as well. The mother uses her age at the time that the baby was conceived. Then, add the number that correlates to the month the baby was conceived in. That is, January would be 1, February is 2, March is 3, and so on. Add the mother’s age to the month. If the resulting total is an even number, then the sex of the unborn baby is a boy. If the total is an uneven number, then the parents should expect a girl.

Or, you can analyze your food cravings to try and find out whether the expectant baby is going to be dressed in pink or blue. If you crave salty foods, pickles or other sour items, and you have a hankering for meat and cheese, then your baby will be a boy. Mothers who are going to give birth to a little girl are said to want sweets and fruits during their pregnancies.
