Host an Academy Awards Party Right at Home

Academy Awards is the Rose Bowl of College Football games, the World Series of Major League Baseball, the Stanley Cup of the National Hockey League, the Super Bowl of the National Football LeagueâÂ?¦well you get the picture. It’s not a sport, but there are still many similarities between the two and you can still have a party like you do for these major sporting events. You may even make bets with each other on the big winners, just like on any major game. All the while, you can have a barbeque, eat chips and salsa, and drink! It is a great way idea for a themed party! What better way to spend a night of the most famous and prestigious award show in the entertainment industry?

Watching the Academy Awards can also assure you will know what people will be talking about the next day at work, and you will avoid being shut out from a conversation due to the lack of knowledge of the big winners. Seeing your favorite stars dressed in the most glamorous outfits and your favorite movies and actors win is just like seeing your favorite athletes compete and perform well. There is the common act of rooting and cheering (though the actors are not active, but just sitting in the chairs waiting for their names to be called, just as we, the viewers, are doing). In addition, watching winners stutter during their acceptance speech can be compared to watching athletes fumble and miss their plays.

But the key point is the idea that Academy Awards can be a great excuse to throw a party. You can invite anyone who is interested in movies and the entertainment industry and have them bring appetizers, drinks, etc. You can also get Academy Award decorations (either at a large party store or make your own) to enhance the theme even more, such as plates, table top decorations, etc. Basically, you can go as far as you want to create the atmosphere and ambiance of the Academy Awards, even as far as to replicate the glamour.

The food and drinks are just the beginning. The central reason for this party is, of course, to watch and enjoy the Academy Awards together. And the best way to ensure everyone watches the show and pay attention? Have money on the line. Yes, as briefly mentioned before, have everyone participate in a game where all the guests try to predict the winners of each category and keep score of how many each player gets right. Whoever guesses the most number of winners correctly is the winner. Or, you can bet on individual categories and have winners on each. Again, it is your party and you can make the rules! Sure, there are random, less popular categories that we may not want to watch, but having money on it can make it interesting. It will give people incentives to root for people and movies that are not familiar whatsoever, and may even spark interest in actors/movies that you may not have thought twice about before.

As you can see, although some may balk at the thought of having an Academy Awards party, let alone watching the Academy Awards, there are many perks to hosting/participating in an Academy Awards party. Besides the opportunity to socialize and hang out with friends and potentially new people, there are foods, drinks, and money involvedall the ingredients for fun fun and more fun!
