Hotel Guide: Anchorage, Alaska

Alaska, oh how beautiful this countryside is. Through its harshness of winter, there is something that stays true – even warm. And that is the hotels that you will find in this northern landscape. And throughout all of the wonderfully eclectic hotels located in the heart of Anchorage, Alaska, there were three that stood out among all the rest. And here are the three amazing hotelsâÂ?¦

The first hotel I reviewed is the Hotel Captain Cook. Besides its fun name, this hotel has much more than a faÃ?¯Ã?¿Ã?½ade to stand upon. The Hotel Captain Cook encompasses three copper-colored high-rises in the epicenter of downtown Anchorage. When driving to the main entrance, you are greeted by a curved driveway, which leads you to the curb-staff all adoring top hats. At this entrance you will have travelers of all types rushing past you. Once you’re past the entrance you enter an original hand-carved entryway and then you are greeted by dÃ?©cor gracing a nautical theme. The Captain Cook offers a prime downtown location, it lies within three blocks of gleaming, modern office buildings, the Egan Convention Center, and the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts. This Anchorage hotel has in excess of 547 guestrooms, the rooms are all located in 10-story Tower 1, 17-story Tower 2, and 20-story Tower 3 – all of which are accessible via elevators within the lobby. Bathrooms include thick Egyptian combed-cotton robes, brass-toned fixtures, and Gilchrist & Soames toiletries from London.

The second hotel in which I reviewed is the Historic Anchorage Hotel. This downtown hotel was built in 1936 and is within four blocks of the convention center, Fifth Avenue Mall, and the Anchorage Museum. This beautiful hotel is designed in the vain of the Queen Anne style – which is guaranteed to please all of your various dÃ?©cor tastes. The hotel offers complimentary high-speed Internet Access in all public places, and like many hotels is entirely smoke-free. Parking is available at a surcharge, and for those fitness gurus, access to the nearby fitness facility is available at a discounted rate. The Historic Anchorage Hotel has a total of 26 guestrooms within its three-story state. The rooms are even provided with complimentary wireless Internet access. The bathrooms are all full – bathtubs/showers, and are outfitted within Aromae Botanicals bath products.

And lastly, but certainly not least, is the Alyeska Prince Hotel. This hotel is two miles from Crow Creek Gold Mine and is fifteen miles from Portage Glacier. The Alyeska Prince Hotel is absolutely perfect for those travelers who are wanting to be close to Anchorage, but are still wanting to explore the Alaskan territory, downtown Anchorage only forty miles away, but the expanse of beauty is breathtaking. Some of the various amenities that you will find at this hotel are the aesthetic beauties. The floor-to-ceilings windows in the fireside lobby offer amazing views of the North Face of Mount Alyeska, which is the root of the hotels name. Cathedral ceilings offer a beautiful view to the sixteen-person spa tub, and fitness center. The Alyeska Prince Hotel is home to a total of 307 guestrooms within its eight-story frame. And all of these rooms are smoke-free.
