Hotel Guide: Houston, Texas

Houston, Texas – this is the largest city in the wonderfully warm state of Texas, and is the fourth largest city in the United States. So it is no wonder that literally millions of individuals find themselves within the confines of this city at one point or another. And it is within the city limits of this world-class city (noted by the Globalization and World Cities Study Group & Network as one of 11 U.S. cities to be on this list), that there are literally hundreds, if not thousands, of hotels that will wow and awe everyone who sees them. It is, however, this over-congestion of the hotel world that has caused people to become confused about which hotel to actually stay in. Well, I have researched and reviewed the top three hotels that reside in Houston, Texas, and have written on them below.

The first hotel in which I reviewed is the Omni Houston Hotel. This four-and-a-half-star hotel is a chic urban retreat for the commonly traditional Houston landscape. This hotel rests within one of the most pristine areas in Houston. Once guests walk into this 14-story hotel, they are greeted by a grand lobby, which is adorned with emerald-green marble flooring, fine tapestries, fresh flowers (which give it a great scent), and a concierge staff to die for. Are you in need of a good workout? Well at the omni Houston Hotel, they have a health club which features cardio and weight machines, exercise balls and mats, free weights, a spa tub (which is tiled), and finally dry saunas. This hotel also features four tennis courts and two lap pools. Probably one of the coolest features is, one of the lap pools plays underwater music, so as you are swimming you can “dance” along with the music. This hotel has 378 spacious guestrooms with antique-reproduction furnishings, roomy work desks, large reading chairs with lamps, and accent tables.

The second hotel in which I reviewed is the Hotel Derek. This four-star hotel obtains distinctive Texas style and is located in the Galleria. When guests walk into the lobby a 42-inch plasma-screen faux fireplace is a fun focal point in the lobby of this 15-story hotel. The hotel is outfitted in a trendy 1960s style dÃ?©cor that blends cool “kitsch” and “Bauhaus modernism” with a Texas sense of humorâÂ?¦which consists of cowhide rugs, fake-fur chairs and other leather seating. The Hotel Derek has a secluded and quite relaxation pool with a dramatic, chrome-accented waterfall. This hotel also offers complimentary wireless Internet access throughout the entire complex. The Hotel Derek has 314 loft-like modernist guestrooms, all with platform beds, Egyptian cotton sheet, down pillows, and down duvets. Some of the amenities include a 27-inch TV with HBO and interactive cable, as well as high-speed Internet access and local and toll-free calls – all of which are complimentary.

And the last hotel in which I reviewed is The Houstonian Hotel, Club and Spa. This country-club style hotel is near the great Galleria shopping Mall. When guests enter the lodge-inspired lobby is appointed with a huge stone fireplace, dark-wood paneling, and richly patterned carpets. Guests can enjoy complimentary access to the upscale Houston Club, a 125,000 square foot health and fitness facility located on site. The Houstonian Hotel, Club and Spa offers 280 extra-spacious guestrooms in two V-shaped wings. All rooms are outfitted with amazing features, oversized desks, laptop safes, minibars, CD alarm clocks, and cordless multiline phones with voicemail.
