Hotel Guide: Lincoln, Nebraska

Lincoln, Nebraska was founded in 1856, and has been the capital of Nebraska since March 1, 1867. This amazingly eclectic city is home to such things as The University of Nebraska and the Nebraska State Capitol, which was constructed between 1922 and 1932. The capitol building is a skyscraper topped by a golden dome, and is crowned by a twenty-foot statue of a farmer sowing grain on a pedestal of wheat and corn. However, the number one reason why visitors come to Lincoln, is for the college. So, I have researched and reviewed the top three hotels within this city that are economical and intriguing for future college students, and their family.

The first hotel in which I reviewed is The Cornhusker, a Marriott Hotel. This three-and-a-half-star hotel is a downtown landmark, which rests only two blocks form the State Capitol and Pershing Center, and only six blocks from the University of Nebraska. This hotel opened in 1983, on the site of the original 1926 Cornhusker. This hotel is known for its amazing architecture – hand-pained murals, a spiral grand staircase in the lobby, and a “saw-tooth” window. The twenty-six “Corn Maiden” figures within the atrium ballroom are the only remaining links to the earlier structure. Some of the various other amenities this hotel offers its guests includes The Burnham Yates Conference Center, which can accommodate up to 1,500 guests. Guests can take advantage of the 24-hour business center with complimentary high-speed Internet access, and wireless Internet access, which is available throughout the hotel for a surcharge. There is also a fitness room, indoor swimming pool, and complimentary airport transportation.

The second hotel in which I reviewed is the Villager Courtyard and Gardens. This three-story hotel is located within the center of Lincoln, this hotel is less than a mile of Gateway Mall, and is only 3.5 miles from the State Capitol. This hotel is known for being well-manicured, with landscaped grounds, gardens, and fish ponds. This hotel provides complimentary airport transportation, as well as complimentary high-speed Internet access in all public areas. Some of the other amenities this hotel offers its guests includes a seasonal outdoor swimming pool, spa tub, and a fitness room. This hotel has 191 guestrooms in a two-story building. Some of the other in-room amenities this hotel offers its guests includes high-speed Internet access available for a surcharge, complimentary local calls, voicemail, and premium television channels.

And the last hotel in which I reviewed is the Embassy Suites Lincoln. This three-star hotel is home to glass elevators and breathtaking views of the hotels nine-story atrium lobby accented by waterfalls. Guests can enjoy the indoor swimming pool, hot tub, sauna, fitness center and game room. There is over 20,000 square-feet of meeting space. This hotel has 252 guestrooms, each of them comes with a private bedroom, separate living area with a sofa sleeper, kitchen area including a wet bar, microwave, coffeemaker, as well as two televisions, and dual-line speakerphones with voicemail. There is a complimentary evening reception featuring all-type of beverages.
