Hotel Guide: Louisville, Kentucky

So you’ve found yourself in Kentucky’s largest city, Louisville. This city was founded in 1778 by George Rogers Clark and is named after King Louis XVI of France. This town is most famous as the home of “The Most Exciting Two Minutes in Sports.” Which is named this because of its major event, the Kentucky Derby, which is the most widely watched event in American horse racing. Louisville rests on the Kentucky-Indiana border, and is referred to as Kentuckiana. So no matter why you have found yourself in this wonderful city, there is one thing that you have in common with the millions of visitors that travel here – you are going to need somewhere to sleep at night. So, I have researched and reviewed the top three hotels in Louisville, Kentucky for your consideration.

The first hotel in which I reviewed is The Brown Hotel. This historic four-star-hotel is located in downtown Louisville in the Theater district. When guests enter this hotel, they are taken back by the lobby which is full of Southern antique replicas, a hand-painted plaster-leaf ceiling, and pristine marble floors. Some of the amenities this hotel offers its guests includes complimentary airport shuttle, wireless Internet access in all public spaces, and a self-service business center. This hotel also has 17,000 square feet of meeting space, which includes a stately main ballroom with nine crystal chandeliers. This hotel has 293 guestrooms and suites with twenty-five-inch Televisions, three multi-line phones with voicemail, work desks, complimentary newspapers, and windows that actually open – a rarity in this hotel age.

The second hotel in which I reviewed is The Seelbach Hilton Louisville. This four-star hotel was first opened in 1905, and this Beaux Arts hotel captures the spirit of a golden era in the modern heart of downtown Louisville. This ten-story hotel just recently went through a major renovation to transfer this hotel back to its original grandeur. Some of the various hotel amenities includes complimentary airport shuttles and wireless Internet access in most public meeting areas, and a 24-hour business center, seven conference rooms, and three ballrooms. This ten-story hotel has 321 guestrooms, and all come with furnishings that are decorated in 18th-century-style furnishings. Most rooms offer city views and all offer marble bathrooms with bathrobes. Some of the other various in-room amenities includes multi-line speakerphones with voicemail as well as dial-up Internet access and high-speed Internet access is available for a surcharge.

And the last hotel in which I reviewed is the Galt House Hotel and Suites. This three-and-a-half-star hotel faces the river and is linked to the convention center, which makes this hotel a hot-spot for convention goers. When guests enter this amazing lobby, their eyes are quickly drawn to the marble floors, high ceilings, and crystal chandeliers. Some of the various amenities this hotel offers its guests includes a revolving restaurant, which offers panoramic views of the city. There is also an outdoor swimming pool with sundeck, which faces the Ohio River and the Kennedy Bridge. There is also a hotel fitness facility – Club 360 – which offers its users cardio machines with LCD video screens and DVD players, a smoothie bar, and complimentary Pilates and body-sculpting classes. This hotel has 1,300 guestrooms and suites, which all have complimentary wireless Internet access and dial-up Internet access. Some of the various other in-room amenities includes compact refrigerators, cable TV with premium channels, and absolutely amazing bathrooms.
