Hotel Guide: Newark, New Jersey
The first hotel in which I reviewed is The Grand Summit Hotel. This four-star hotel was originally built back in 1868, in a brick-Tudor style. When this building first opened way back in 1868, it was called The Blackburn House, which was a country resort for New Yorkers – and the building was then rebuilt in 1929 as a hotel. During the reconstruction, the building retained its brick-Tudor style, which includes wide hallways with covered ceilings, chair rails, and moldings. This hotel is home to both business and leisure travelers, and has a way of melding the two genres of travelers together seamlessly. Some of the various amenities this hotel offers its guests includes a full buffet breakfast every morning, and complimentary food and beverage service is available usually twenty-four-hours. The hotel has a rather small fitness room, however, guests can take advantage of complimentary access to the Summit YMCA, which is only four-blocks away. The Grand Summit Hotel also offers its guests an outdoor swimming pool, and complimentary wireless Internet access, which is available throughout the hotel. This hotel has 150 guestrooms, and some of the in-room amenities includes complimentary wireless Internet access, as well as dial-up Internet access. There is also, complimentary house-made cookies and bottled water, free local calls, turndown serve, coffeemakers, as well as premium television channels.
The second hotel in which I reviewed is the Short Hills Hilton. This four-star hotel rests in the suburbs of Newark, giving guests a true “at-home” feeling. This hotel is very popular with the business travelers, due to the fact that it has plenty of meeting room and a business center. Some of the various amenities this hotel offers its guests includes a full-service business center, tennis courts, three-lane lap pool, seasonal outdoor lagoon swimming pool, a spa tub, and a fitness room with cardio equipment and free weights, and a full-service health spa. This hotel has 304 guestrooms, and they all include CD steros, wireless Internet access, which is available for a surcharge, minibars, and desks with multi-line phones.
And the last hotel in which I reviewed is the Marriott Bridgewater. This three-and-a-half-star hotel first opened in 2002, and rests next to the Bridgewater Commons Mall and I-287 in the central New Jersey suburbs. Some of the amenities this hotel offers its guests includes an indoor swimming pool, spa tub, and fitness room with cardiovascular machines and free weights. This hotel also has over 12,000 square-feet of meeting space, which includes a ballroom, banquet facilities, and business center with high-speed Internet access, available for a surcharge. This hotel has 346 guestrooms, which includes the “Wired for Business” service, that involved high-speed Internet access, unlimited local calls, and long distance calls within the United States for a low daily fee.
