How Can You Raise Money for Philippines Typhoon Victims

Many of you may be wondering what you can do to help the victims in the Philippines after the devastating typhoon. Please do not send old wanted clothes, shoes, or stuff you do not want anymore. Yes you may think it is helping but in reality it’s not. Most of the clothes get left on the side of the roads making even more of a mess for everyone to clean up. I have seen this before, clothes left on the side of the road and the cattle started to chew on them and made them sick. The best way is to send money to relief funds. It may sound clichÃ?© but it helps with things that they will actually need like vaccines, food, and clean water.

Maybe you don’t have the money to donate? Well a couple friends and I at West Liberty University in West Virginia decided to try to raise money for the cause. We talked to some other people around the campus and at local businesses to see if they could help and come donate time and food for the cause. We had crafts, a local pizza place, bake goods and we even made shirts from our local graphics class. Also we have a 50/50 where people had donated stuff they either made or bought to be raffled off. The tickets were either 1$ for 1 or 6 for 5$. This was a great way to raise money for the relief fund and it was great seeing so many people come out for a cause like this.

We had this fundraiser on a Saturday from 8am-5pm. At the end of the day we raised 1,000$ for the relief fund. It is so great to know that in some way no matter what you raised money to help people survive and that you are helping to answer their prayers. So never let thinking you can’t help in no way stop you because there is always a way.
