How to Check Your Brake Fluid and Your Tire Pressure
If you are not sure which one would work best for you than you should ask someone at the store for their opinion, or advice. Before you begin checking your tire pressure, you should make sure that the care has not been driven for at least one hour. This would mean that your tires are cold and this is the best way to get an accurate reading. Once you have your gage here is what you should do next. First remove the cap from your tire valve, and quickly push the valve end of the gage onto the stem. You will hear a little is coming out, but this is ok.
Once you get your reading on your gage, you can check on the inside of your car door. There is usually says what the recommend air pressure for your tire should be. If it is not there than you can check in your vehicles owner manual. If more air is needed add enough air to get the recommended psi. Make sure that you do not overfill your tire. If you do this you can can also experience a blow out or cause other damage to your tire. Make sure that you replace the valve when you are done, and put your gage in a place your are sure to find it when you need it.
When it comes to checking the brake fluid, this is a very easy but necessary task. First you need to look under the hood of your car on the driver’s side, toward the back of the engine. You will need to locate the brake master cylinder. This is a small rectangular piece of metal with a plastic reservoir and a rubber cap on top. If you are not sure what to look for than you can just check your owner’s manual for a picture and or instructions. If it is empty the brake pedal will go straight to the floor. If this does happen then you may want to take it to a mechanic to get your fluid refilled properly. I really would not recommend that you refill it yourself.
This is something that you do not want to do incorrectly. If you re curious as to how this is done, then ask your mechanic if you can observe them putting in the fluids or checking it. Most mechanics would not mind showing this too you. You should make sure that you check your fluid’s and tire pressure on a regular basis. You could be saving yourself a lot of money in the long run.
