Instructions:
Step1: Pick out the window that is facing the street, if you have multiple windows, pick the most prominent one. It is also a good idea to create a window display on the center window, free from obstruction. If you prefer, you can also create a series of window displays rather than just one, so if you have three windows facing the street, create three window displays.
Step 2: Clean your windows, it should be free from dirt and smudge. If you live in a place that snows, just make sure that your window gets cleaned up all the time. Pull back the curtains and draw up the blinds if you have any. For a better view, you may want to temporarily remove the window treatments and put them back after the holidays.
Step 3: Clear out the space enough to place a sturdy table where your window display will be placed. Remove any over-sized furnishings or any obstructions.
Step 4: Place a sturdy table wide enough to fit the bottom ledge of your window. Best to use a folding work desk you can find at office supplies store sold for $49/each. It is made of sturdy plastic and can be easily stored and can be uses in many ways like craft projects, party table, etc. So investing in one or two is not a bad idea.
Step 5: Cut the plywood or MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard) to the width of the window and about the length of the table. Put this on top of the sturdy table. This will be your staging ground for the window display. Pain it in white before placing; this will be a good foundation for the snow scene so no brown color of plywood or MDF would show.
Step 6: While you prepare the above, have the children paint snow scenes on a sturdy cardboard or illustration board. Cut in three pieces (one big piece to cover the width of the window and two smaller ones to cover the sides- these pieces will box-in your window display). On the cardboard or illustration board pieces draw in pencil the trees and the sky and let them paint on them. For example, paint the base in sky blue then have them color the trees in browns and some green for the pine trees, and then paint the clouds in white. Add speck of white paint on the leaves of trees to give the appearance of snow. Add glitters so they sparkle in the evening. (This will be what you will use to box in your window display).
Step 7: Cut out ice bergs from white Styrofoam. You can also cut igloos from Styrofoam. Then add cotton batting on the ground to give the illusion of snow.
Step 8: Have children help cut-out the snowflakes and hang them from the ceiling using white strings and adhesive tape.
Step 9: Then have your children add an assortment of Webkinz plush stuffed animals. Place a couple of white Webkinz Seals close to the ice berg and a trio of Lil’Kinz Seal next to the igloo. Place two of the Webkinz Polar Bear on top of the iceberg. There is also the Webkinz Seasonal Reindeer that you can place next to the trees. Add a group of Webkinz Huskies pulling a wooden sleigh to add wonderment! Use the children’s imaginations as your guide; an assortment of animals by Webkinz would make this winter wonderland window display a fun and playful one.
Step 10: Finish off your display by adding holiday lights along your window frame and then hang ornaments from the ceilings. Put spotlights to show off this display at night. Add holiday music to make the Webkinz come to life. Then box it in with the cardboard or illustration board pieces. Secure the sides together with heavy duty duct tape and then anchor the back with stacks of books.
For the unveiling, invite your friends and neighbors to watch, before you know it, a lot of passersby will enjoy your spectacular Webkinz Winter Wonderland
