How to Install a Joomla Template
Joomla is the most popular CMS out there right now. To me Joomla is pretty difficult to use. If you’re taking on Joomla be sure that you have a lot of patience. I have suffered so many headaches trying to use this CMS. So I’m writing these easy to understand tutorials in hopes it will save someone from them headaches. In this tutorial I will show you how to install a Joomla Template.
There are many sites that offer free Joomla templates and I will give you a list of them at the end of this guide. The first thing you will need to do is find the template that you want to use and download it. Download the file to your desktop. Then you will need to unzip the file. Once you have completed that you can move on to the following steps to actually install the template on Joomla.
Step 1 – Login to your Joomla Admin Panel.
Step2 – Click on the Installer tab at the top of your Joomla Window. On the drop down menu click Templates – Site.
Step 3 – On the next page click Browse.
Step 4 – A dialog box will appear. Locate your template on your hard drive and click ok.
Step 5 – Click Upload File and Save.
Step 6 – Click Continue when the confirmation message appears.
Step 7 – Now you should be on the Template Selection Page. Select your new template and click the default icon at the top of the page.
Your new template is now installed. You can now customize your template to suit your taste. Here are some sites that offer the best free Joomla templates.
There are many more sites out there. If you can’t find what you are looking for on these sites you can search google for more. I plan to write many more tutorials on Joomla, so don’t let it get the best of you. It took me forever to get my template installed, if I had only known how easy it was. 🙂
