How to Keep Your House Clean

With two little kids around the house, it is impossible to keep things neat and tidy. I try to stay organized and want a neat house, but it seems it is an impossible task. I feel like I am constantly cleaning while my two year old is constantly destroying it.

I find that it is necessary to clean everyday so it does not get so bad. Simple tasks such as dishes and laundry, the things that are never-ending. My oldest is two so I am just starting to teach her how to pick up after herself and how to throw things in the garbage. But if you have children that are a little older I would recommend setting some daily chores for them to do. This is also a good idea if they are earning an allowance, it gives them something to do to earn it. It is also a good learning experience for them.

Even setting tasks for your spouse will help you around the house. For you it may seem like a chore in itself to get them to do things, but they most likely will be willing to help. Even if the whole family works together to fold the laundry or do the dishes, it will give you something to do as a family and will keep the house in tip-top shape.

The first thing that you need to do is make a list of everything that needs to be done around the house. Prioritize the things that need to be done immediately, and also make a separate list of things that may need to be done on a daily basis, such as feeding the pet, Get the things that need to be done right away completed, and then work on the tasks for that particular day. Set rules such as no TV or video games until they are complete. That will set timelines for them, and hopefully will get your cleaning done faster.

Sometimes you just need to put your foot down to get anything done. Be persistent, but also set a good example for them to follow. If you are persistent and “nagging”, the stuff will get done and you can get some help with the household chores. Offer rewards like television or treats if accomplished, or even a weekly allowance. It will get done with your dedication.
