How to Make Money with Candles

Did you know that there are many different ways that you can make money with candles? Lots of people get candles throughout the year as gifts, but not everyone likes to use candles in their home. There is also a large group of people who make their own candles. This is especially the case if you happen to have very young children. But instead of just throwing, or giving hem away, there are a couple of creative things that you can do with those candles. Have you ever thought of adding a lamp shade to your candle? You can then sell your product as a home decoration.

Here are a few ideas to get your started. The first thing you will need to do is visit your local candle shop, gift shop or art’s and craft’s store, to find a candle holder that will fit with your home decor. Once you find one that you like, you will also need to get the following materials together as well. An 80 pound white piece of paper (most art’s and craft stores carry these), crafters glue, thin ribbon, a small lampshade pattern (you can find this in the craft store or online) and a paper hole punch.

Now you are ready to begin making your candles look like a piece of art. First you will need to print our your pattern if you have found it online, or if you purchased one from the store, trace it onto the white paper and cut it out. Carefully place it over your candle frame and make a mark of where it overlaps. Then use your hole punch to put holes about 1/8 inch apart on the top and on the bottom.

Then take your ribbon and loop it through the holes on the top of the shade. Make sure that you tie a small bow on each end. Now you can glue the straight ends of the shade to the top of the candle frame. Make sure that the fit hole and the last hole overlap. There will be a small bow underneath the top one when you overlap the two holes on top of the lamp. Take the bottom bow and pull through the top hole. You should have to small bowls in one hole on the top of the lamp. Once the shade is glued to the frame you can then loop your ribbon through the holes on the bottom of the shade. When you get to the end tie another bow and your shade is complete.

If you want to add a little bit more contrast try using two different color ribbons and loop them both through the holes in lamp. Although I highly recommend these for decoration only you will and to make sue that you keep the candle trimmed low so that if you ever need to light it the flame will not burn your shade.

This is just one of the many different things that you can do with candles. Try creating your own ideas. You can also visit your local bookstore for additional ideas on what you can do with your candles.

Once you have created a few sample items you can then see how well the public will actually like your decorative candles. You can try buying selling them on eBay or asking some of your neighbors what they think about them. Your goal is to try and find out if anyone would be interested in buying them. If they are interested in them try to find out how much they are willing to pay for these items. This will help you to determine how much you want to charge. You can even make candle gift baskets, which can be a gift basket full of different types of candle decorations. Try experimenting with different ideas you may be surprised at what you can come up with and how much money you will actually make.
