How to Make a Fairy Dust Necklace

As fairies become more and more popular these days, their influence can be seen more often, especially with the kids. You can attempt to snare some of the magical, mystical charm of fairies by making one of these fun Fairy Dust necklaces. Make one for yourself and for a certain someone smile when you present them with their own very special fairy dust necklace. One of the few problems you may have is finding the miniscule jars and stoppers needed for the making of these necklaces! Thank goodness for us, cruising the Internet makes this job a lot easier. The bottles and stoppers you need can be found at online stores, and should be about 1-inch high. Once you have been able to source your bottle, carefully remove the cork without causing too much major damage, and fill the bottle just ocer half way to the top with your version of fairy dust. This can be colored glitter, very small seed beads, or anything else you can think of that will fit into the bottle; fine gold and silver glitter are the preferred choice. Using glitter is easiest because all you need to do is to fill the bottle by making a funnel using a piece of paper. When you have done this, push one end of a piece of wire through the cork. Push it all the way down so the other end is touching the cork. Use a wire cutter to cut off all but about 1/4 of an inch of the end of this piece of wire, and bend up at the end to help hold the wire in place.

Cover the sides and of course the bottom of the cork with any glue you have and put it back in the bottle. Set it aside and leave it to dry. If your bottle does not have any cork on its body, you can glue a bead at the top of the bottle to cover it’s little hole. You need to make sure the bead is not too big or too small, and you also want to make sure you glue it on sideways so you have access to both end holes. Finally, when the glue is already dried up, you can string a chain, a bell, or piece of yarn, etc. through the hoop in the wire, or the holes in the bead, to complete your necklace. You may need to use a split ring if your chain or ribbon is too wide to fit through the loop you made in the wire.
