How to Make a Homemade Senseo Coffee Filter

You can make your own homemade Senseo coffee filters and save a ton of money buying pods. One of the best features of this homemade Senseo coffee filter is that you can also se your own coffee in the machine! This means no more expensive store bought filters of pre made coffee pods for the Senseo machine.

Homemade Senseo Coffee Filter Step 1: The filter

I like to use a small coffee filter if possible. The round filters meant for the dorm room sized coffee makers or 4 cup coffee makers are perfect for this. You can use the regular sized filter if you need to. You will just need to be careful with the folding.

Go ahead and lay your filter out on the counter. Press it out flat if you wish.

Homemade Senseo Coffee Filter Step 2: The Coffee

Now, grind your coffee or use a pre ground coffee. Either will work. It tastes best to use a slightly stronger coffee than you normally would in your regular drip coffee maker

I find that mild to medium coffees almost come out bland when used in making a Homemade Senseo Coffee Filter. Flavored coffees and dark coffees work great.

Grind you coffee and place about 2 tablespoons of grounds in the middle of the filter. You want to be able to use as much coffee as you can fit into he 2 cup pod holder in your Senseo. A lot of room will be taken up with the paper, so get as much coffee at you can in there.

Homemade Senseo Coffee Filter Step 3: The Pod

Take the round coffee filter and fold one side over, covering the coffee Fill the opposite is over, forming a long thin “tube.” Fold the top over now.

Finally fold the bottom up. This will form a small square pod or little package.

Place the packaged it not he 2 cup holder. Tuck the corners in and press gently to hold down. Place in the Senseo and work as normal.

Another option is to use small measure cup. I find a 1/8 cup works great. Press the filter down in the cup. Pour in the coffee grounds. Fold up the paper an twist. Cut off the excess and work as normal.

Either way will work fine, but you may encounter that your Senseo will not close.

In this case I simply remove some of the grounds and se if it will close then. You can learn how much you can use to get yourSenseo to close.
