How to Make it Through Your Last Hour of the Workday
Step One
As the clock approaches the last hour of your workday cover it up. If you continue to check the clock through out this hour, you will not get any work done. You do not need to worry about when your workday is over. Your coworkers will let you know when the workday is over. They will make enough noise getting ready to leave to draw your attention away from the work that you are completing.
Step Two
Set aside an easy project for you to complete during the last hour of your workday. This should be a project that will last the entire hour but not be impossible to finish in one hour. Set yourself the goal to complete this task before you leave work. This goal will motivate you to keep at your work and to see it through to the end.
Step Three
Have a cup of coffee to sip on during the last hour of your workday. Many people hit what we call the midday slump during their last hour of work. It is important to keep your energy level up. With a high energy level, you will be more productive during your last hour of your workday.
Step Four
Open the blinds to your office to help you be more productive during your last of hour of your workday. The sunlight coming in will recharge your internal battery to keep you going. This extra little kick will help you to get done your work in the last hour that you are there. For this to work, it is best to open the blinds about an hour and a half before the end of your workday.
There is more productivity lost during the last hour of a workday then there is lost during the entire rest of the day. People meander around and watch the clock until it is time to go home. Do not fall into this unproductive trap. Follow the steps outlined above to help get you through the last hour of your workday.
