How to Plan a Summer Camping Trip for Your Family
Once you have decided on a location you will then need to make sure you have all of the necessary camping utensils. The most important is the tent, you can not go camping without. The size of the tent really depends on how many children you have. The information in this article will be based on a standard family of four. There really are a lot of different tent styles that you can choose from. Some have porches and windows. Since the whole family will be using the tent, why not make it a family decision to decide which tent you would want to buy.
Once you have purchased the tent, then you will need to make sure you have enough sleeping bags, or air mattresses for everyone to sleep on. Most kids will be just fine in a sleeping bag. But unfortunately do to age and back problems, many adults have to use air mattresses when camping out. You can find air mattresses just about anywhere and they are just as affordable as sleeping bags.
Just as with any vacation you will need to make sure that everyone has their own suitcase, even the kids. You will then need a separate bag for your toiletries as well as your wash clothes, toothbrushes, etc. Remember you are not going to a hotel resort you are going to a camp site. At most camp site’s you will be using public facilities so you also will probably want to take along some disinfecting cleaner. This way you can actually wipe down the bathroom prior to you and your kids using it.
If you go to a camping store you may even find that they now have portable showers that you can take with you on any camping trip. These work great and are very easy to assemble and set up. This is a lot more comfortable for families that are camping out. Or if you have the money you can rent a camper which comes with all of these facilities. The smaller campers are a lot less expensive, and you can still camp out in the tent. It’s kind of taking your bathroom and kitchen camping with you. Once you have packed all the bags and made all of the other important decisions, you will then have to decide on what food you want to bring along.
When it comes to camping most people prefer to barbecue. You just bring your food along in a cooler with plenty of ice. Or if you prefer you can purchase a portable refrigerator. Most portable refrigerators are small and compact, and can plug right into your car. Even if you plan on fishing and catching your food, you would still want to bring some food and snacks along just in case you don’t catch anything. A summer camping trip can be a lot of fun for the family, as long as you take the time and plan properly.
