How to Refinish a Bathtub

First you will want to start by setting your room up for maximum ventilation.

Next prepare the area around your tub to minimize the mess you will be making, newspapers around the edges can help, as well as removing and cloth or towels from the room as to not stain them with the finishing product.

Now mix your cleaning agent that came with the finishing kit, this is a one time use solution, so don’t try to save it to use for later, make sure your gloves are on while mixing, preparing and applying. The solution will get warm to the touch.

You can begin cleaning with this solution using a rag and scrubbing the tub, you will not need to scrub to hard, you will soon realize how good this solution works for removing mildew and hard sediment deposits.

Once completed, make sure to rinse everything thoroughly. The finishing kit comes with paint as well, you may be happy with just the cleaner but you would be amazed at what repainting the tub will look like!

If you wish to paint the tub, let the tub dry, and you can begin painting, this paint is very thick and heavy, and requires 2 coats, (its self-leveling paint) Once you are done with the first coat, you must apply the second coat after about 90 minutes, any longer and you must wait the full 48 hours for it to dry before applying the 2nd coat. DON’T get discouraged, after applying the second coat, you most likely wont be happy with the way it looks, but be patient, its self leveling and within a few minutes it will look perfect! Let dry and tada! new bath tub finish for about 20-30 dollars.
