I Am Fault Woman! Hear Me Roar!

Hello everyone. My name is fault woman. This commentary is dedicated to those who persistently blame someone else for their problems.

It’s my fault that you are miserable. It’s my fault that you detest life. It’s even my fault that the winding road of your existence has suddenly come to a temporary end because you know that I continue to live and prosper. Let’s go deeper shall we?

It’s my fault that you don’t respect yourself and that you refuse to better yourself. The only options you seem to think you have are a fruitless way of living just like those around you who support your ignorance. You consider the down and the out your best allies. They’re your friends, you say.

Your state of mind is like that of a tired slave and you have no desire to be energized. You refuse to reclaim your mind, body and spirit.

True enough, there is another side to your story, but I would be honored to take the blame for everyone who has mistreated you. It’s my pleasure to be held responsible for everything that you hate to admit you can’t do right.

It’s my fault you’re unemployed, but you still turn down jobs because you feel they don’t pay enough. It’s my fault you won’t further your education. It’s even my fault that you feel nothing good ever happens to you.

That’s right. Put it all on me. Fault woman. I am here for that purpose.

Well, I’ve gone a bit overboard as you can see, but my point is, in the past I would get upset for being fault woman. Why, to be fault woman is to be personally attacked and when she’s not being attacked, her foe’s steer clear away from her. They’re afraid that she might continue to destroy their lives with her encouraging outlook and all. Fault woman is not a super hero to some.

Fault woman is the scapegoat for those who will not pursue their dreams. These people worry about what others will think of them, so their own aspirations rest deep within them, dying and fading into the dream hereafter. They hate to unite with fault woman on anything beneficial because they are afraid that, in her, they will see where they have gone wrong. And they will see. Then they criticize.

Nowadays, I really don’t mind being fault woman. It really is a time of serenity. It’s a time when those bitter family members won’t call because they know you’re tired of their odd reasoning. They know that instead of empathy to their ‘same old’ song, the only thing you will offer is the ‘same old’ lecture about how ‘only you can change your life’. You think they want to hear that? Not from fault woman. Not from fault man. They want YOU to do something to change their lives!

I will never understand how some can charge someone else for their discontent. I understand that nobody is perfect and trust me; I am nowhere near the Virgin Mary. But, I understand that I craft my own fate. I am the one determines whom I will eventually become. But that’s okay. I’ll take the fall. Maybe we all should. It can only mean that the individual who won’t stop trying to wrench us downhill right along with them knows that we’re strong enough to take the weight of both, their disappointments and our own. Something traumatized them and that ordeal now leads to their antagonism and vicious condemnation of you and me.

I believe that anyone can find their way to a positive path. It should be as simple as turning around and choosing another course. But, if it isn’t, let me reiterate that I’ll be fault woman for now. However, constant excuses and finger pointing because the events in life that you can control have turned ugly, can’t always be put off on your designated fault woman or fault man. At some point in time, all of us have to be able to apply strength of mind when it comes to the things that we say and do. What is more important is that we also have to take full responsibility for the things we don’t do.
