I Sold the World for a Lollipop

Biting through the stagnant and feeling waves roll around my mouth
Finally reaching the soft sweet center where I can’t hear anything but the predictable crunch and chew ringing in my ears
Someone asked me to forget all the things I learned today
And yesterday and everything before so I gave it all away
For a sugary bite of all that is bliss
In a nice colorful package with nothing to be fake about
And no reason to tell a lie
On a straight narrow stick standing still and lusciously high
Forgetting what I want and doing exactly what I should
I sold the world for a lollipop
And the lollipop taste good
