I Wanna Be Revolutionary
Like Angela Davis
With her afro
Telling a nation to
Use it’s brain
Like Malcolm spitting
Words of knowledge that
Makes you take down the
Thoughts of sprayed bullets
Like him using the content of
His character to move
An entire generation
I want to be REVOLUTIONARY
Like Martin using peace
Instead of war
I wanna be revolutionary
Using my words and my
Gifts to empower, inspire,
And pull up the nasty ugly
Roots of life that people often pass
On by
I wanna be REVOLUTIONARY
Breaking down ethnic walls
With powerful actions
Revolting from the society
Sad life’s melodies
I want to be REVOLUTIONARY
Like the black panthers did back in the
Day, not tryna make others sad
But trying to impact the community.
Educating our children and more.
Instead of sitting back and complaining
About what AIN’t HAPPENINg
Cause anywhere we’s be is
Happening
I want to use my words for love
I want to use them to delete someone’s pain
I want them to make Congress think
About changing some of these laws.
I want to be able to free a generation of hate, shame,
And stop abandoning our communities that are in need.
I want to use my body, march around the country,
Wake up folks
Cause we need a damn wake up call
Right now.
I want to be REVOLUTIONARY
Do you even hear me.
Turn off the radio
Turn off the damn Tv
Get a clue
If we don’t do a thing
We have no one to yell at
We need to scream in the mirror
At ourselves, remind ourselves, that
We are responsible for
Resolving some of these social
Issues.
Are you ready for the revolution
Or are yougoing to continue
To sleep
Forever waiting for someone to
Clean up the mess we’ve all made?
