Ideas for Protecting Your Young’ens Online

How often do we hear about teens and children being abducted, abused, or even worst? The news is dreadful and absolutely heart breaking. The truth is, teen’s and children these days have little or no supervision. Places on the internet where anyone can post, share, and review information are extremely attractive to youth. Young’ens find the internet is a way to speak there mind’s, be heard, and tell the world who they are and what they are all about. This in itself is an awesome expression of each individuals ideas, talents, unique abilities, and feelings. Sad that there are those which seek pieces of information to prey upon our young ones. In the fast paced world we live in, adults find it merely impossible to parent there children in a way that would protect them from online predators. Many adults wouldn’t even know where to start while pointing fingers in blame at others, organizations, the government, and even websites. Truth is; we adults need to stand up and take responsibility. As parents, we have an obligation to our children to learn about the world “they” live in. Adults must learn about computers, the internet, and be aware of the consequences and hidden dangers online, if we are to protect our young’ens from predators. We can even learn to use the computer and internet to our advantage by searching for idea’s to protect them. Most adults feel ashamed and/or intimedated by the internet, computers, and the fact that our children know more about those things than we do. The time has come for adults to set these notions aside and be responsible parents to police, protect, educate, and decipline our children before they whind up on the next milk carton or Post Office board.
