In These Times

Prices are high
Morale is low
Money tight
The days slow
We work from day to day
Just to pay bills that never go down or away

Mouths can hardly be fully fed
And with winter to come
It’s hard to warm a bed
The blankets high
Some kitchens bare
I hear some go without light
With only candles to spare

You and I have much to worry
Two children to care
And one to be here in a hurry
You to work for pay
I for home to stay
That my dear I must declare
Is all we can do for such repair

So in these times
We all should be
There for each other
To make way in this economy
