Installing Drupal Through Your C-Panel
Drupal is one of the easiest Content Management Systems to use. Drupal is a very basic and easy to design. There aren’t many nice looking templates out there for drupal though. So if you want a really nice template then you will need to design it yourself. That is the downside to drupal. But if you are knew to CMS’ then this would be the one for you. In this guide I will show you how to install and set up your CMS through your C-panel.
Step 1 – Login to your control panel.
Step 2 – Once you are inside your control panel click on the Fantastico button.
Step 3 – On the left hand side of your browser you will see where it says Drupal. It is located under the Content Management Category. Click on Drupal.
Step 4 – On the right hand side of your browser you will see a short description about Drupal. Then you will see where it says New Installation. Click on that link.
Step 5 – On the next page you will be asked to fill in some information. This information is very important for your CMS. Here is a run through of the fields.
Install in Directory – If you want Drupal to be displayed as your homepage then leave this field blank. If you wish to put Drupal in a folder of its own then type in the name of that folder. This folder cannot exist. If you already have a website designed and are switching to Drupal then I recommend you put Drupal in a folder of it’s own. This way you can play around with Drupal and get the hang up if before you make it your homepage.
Admin Access Data
Administrator-Username – In this field you will create a username so that you can login to your Drupal Admin Panel.
Password – In this field create a password to go with your username to login to your Drupal Admin Panel.
Everytime you need to login to Drupal to add stuff or whatever, you will be asked for your Username and Password. So make sure you write these down.
Base Configuration
Admin Email – Type in the email that you wish to use for Drupal. This is where email will be sent when people contact you through Drupal.
Step 6 – Click the Install Drupal button.
Step 7 – The next page will explain to you that you have chose to install Drupal and will give you the url to access your Drupal CMS. Write this address down. Now click the Finish Installation button.
The next page will tell you that you must use the username and password that you chose to access your admin panel. You don’t have to do anything else. You have successfully installed Drupal on your Website. You can now login to your new CMS and start building your website.
