How to Customize the Link Bar in Internet Explorer 6.0
There is a Bar in Internet Explorer 6.0 called the Link Bar. This bar comes in handy if you visit the same sites often. For example, if you check the weather, news, or any site often, then you can put that site on the Link Bar for easy access. The difference in the Link Bar and Favorites is, you don’t have to scroll through all the Favorites. It just sits right in your browser and you click it and it takes you there. One click and you’re on the site. To add the Link Bar, go to View > Toolbars > Links. At the top of your browser you should see the Links Bar. The Link Bar already has links on it but you can right click on them and click Delete to delete them. To add your sites, go to a site that you want to add. When it loads, look in the Address Bar where the URL is. Click on the icon in the address bar and drag it to the Links Bar. That will place the link on the Link Bar. So now all you need to do is click that icon and it will take you to that particular page. You may need to rename it if it is to long, so you can place other links on the link bar. To rename the link, simply right click on the link and select Rename and rename it.
How to Customize the Standard Button Bar in Internet Explorer 6.0
You can customize the Standard Button Bar in Internet Explorer 6.0 by Right Clicking on the Toolbar and selecting Customize. That will bring up the Customize Toolbar Dialog Box. In that box you can add buttons to the toolbar or delete buttons that you don’t need from the toolbar. To add buttons, find the buttons on the left that you want to add and click the Add button in the middle. To Delete buttons, find the buttons on the right that you want to delete and highlight them. Then click the remove button. You can also select large icons or small icons to display in your browser. If you don’t like seeing those button select Show Text Labels under Text Options. Once you are finished click Close.
How to Hide and View the Status Bar in your Browser in Internet Explorer 6.0
Sometimes you can’t see the Status Bar. Or maybe you want to take it off to have more room in your browser. I for one like the Status Bar so I can see if the page is loading. To Hide or View the Status Bar simply click View > Status Bar. The Status Bar will appear in the bottom of your browser if it is Checked. If it is unchecked it won’t show.
How to Set your Homepage to your Favorite Site in Internet Explorer 6.0
Every time you open your browser you can set it to go to a certain page. For example, when you open your browser you can have it set to where it will go straight to Google. To set your homepage go to Tools > Internet Options. That will bring up the Internet Options Dialog Box. Click on the General Tab. In the Homepage Box, type in the URL that you want to use for your homepage in the Address Field. Then click Apply and then OK.
How to Change the Size of your Text in Internet Explorer 6.0
Did you know that you can change the size of the text that your Browser Displays? Sometimes when you read articles, stories, or something along those lines, it’s easier on your eyes if you make the text larger. To change the size of the text in your browser click View > Text Size and choose the size of your choice.
These are the basic things in customizing your Internet Explorer 6.0. I think the Link Bar is a very useful Internet Explorer Tool. I use this bar for those sites that I visit everyday. It saves me time by not having to go through all the favorites to find the site I want. If you visit certain sites often, I think you will find that the Link Bar will be useful to you too. Have fun customizing your new Internet Explorer 6.0.
