Is Bush the Worst President Ever?
To answer the question, we need to look deeper, and ask “what will the future of America be?” Will we be dominated by the theology of the right, which wants to know what we are doing, watching, reading, writing, and loving? Or will we still be a free country, where all citizens are indeed able to be free? For the answer to the question of the Bush legacy, we need to know. If it is the Bush future, than history will surely be written to portray him in a grand light. If the curtain is pulled on the wizard, history will not be kind.
Why, do you suppose, the bush Administration wants to know everything about us all? So they can keep down dissent, keep the corporate CEO’s happy, and keep us happily buying. What they can sell us, and when. How they can lie to us to further their agenda for the planet. And they need to keep us afraid. But not so scared that we will stop buying, of course. Just scared enough so that we will give up the rest of our freedoms so that they can “protect us.” Throughout history, nothing has proven itself more valuable to the would-be dictator than fear. If the masses are afraid of an enemy, they will give up much in order to feel “safe.” And all the better when your enemy is elusive. We are told they are constantly trying to kill us. And if we don’t allow the President to listen to any conversation he wants, they will surely attack tomorrow. They tell us that the Islamic Fundamentalists wont stop until we all bow to the east and read the Koran.
In truth, we have more to fear from those who claim to be “looking out for us.” We have to be concerned about terrorists. And we have to be aware of those who wish to do us harm. What we cannot afford to do is to allow those who would use fear to their own gain. Remember what Franklin Roosevelt said in World War II, when we faced a much more real enemy. “We have nothing to fear, but fear itself.” We can be smart, we can be aware. And we can be free!
America, we are at a crossroads. We can choose to move to a future that would make our founders look upon us with pride, a future where we are indeed free and equal. Or we can be afraid, and hide in our closet of fear. We can let Bush and Cheney and Rumsfeld keep watch, and get themselves and their friends rich. We can be afraid to look at porn on our computers or listen to NPR. We can live our lives according to what the religious right wants us to be. Make no mistake, Bush and his ilk think they are fulfilling end-time prophesy, ushering in a new era. Those of us who want to make a better world for all of humanity must stand together against those who only wish to rule us. We must make sure the Bush legacy reflects the truth. Of a man incapable of being a good President. Of a man who places his own desires and plans far ahead of those of the American people. Stop Bush Now!
