Is it Safe to Dye Your Eyelashes or Eyebrows?
Dying your eyelashes or eyebrows can actually cause an allergic reaction to the dye and could cause several of the following symptoms: swelling, inflammation, and susceptibility to infection in or around the eye. Some of these reactions can actually cause blindness if they are severe.
These permanent dyes should not be confused with the temporary colorings that are used. You should be aware that the law required all dye products to include instructions for performing a patch tests. You have probably seen these if you have every dyed your hair. There have been constant warning against using these types of dyes on the eyes. But despite this many teens are now trying it. Mostly because the celebrities are doing it. This is especially the case during the summer months, when more people are concerned about how they look. Many of the eyelash and eyebrow dyes are made overseas and sold to consumer in the United States.
The reason why many people want to dye their eyes is because they have already dyed their hair and want to get the over all look. Obviously if you have red hair, and you have black eyes you may look a little odd.
Remember just because you see celebrities doing it does not mean that it is safe to do. They are in the public eye almost twenty four hours a day, and it is important for them to look a certain way. Just because it is safe to dye your hair with a certain product does not mean that it is ok to use on other parts of your body. Remember if you see it in the store, chances are it is not approved by the FDA. If you do not see on the label that it is approved by the FDA, you should just put it back on the shelf. I have personally seen dozens of products like these, but none of them are approved by the FDA, so I do not purchase them. The bottom line is that it really is not safe for you to dye your eyebrows or eyelashes. Also it is just not worth the risk of losing your eye sight or causing skin damage.
