Jessica Alba: One of the Hottest Young Starlets in Hollywood
Jessica Alba, whose full name is Jessica Marie Alba, was born in Pomona, California on April 28, 1981. Considering she came from a military family, her father was in the Air Force, she moved around the country several times before finally settling in Southern California. She comes from Spanish, Dutch and Mexican heritage from both sides of her family.
Her career started when she was 12 after only 9 months in an acting class when she was signed by an agent. Her first movie role was in a film named Camp Nowhere and she received the role by chance after one of the actresses dropped out and she was cast for the reason that her hair color matched the original actress. Over the next few years she did commercials for JC Penny and Nintendo and had a recurring role in the Secret World of Alex Mack for the Nickelodeon Children’s network.
Jessica who is a certified scuba diver was cast in the television series Flipper in 1995. During the production she was kidnapped but found in the trunk of a car unharmed. During this time she appeared in a television movie Too Soon for Jeff, in episodes of the poplar television series’ Chicago Hope and Beverly Hills 90210, and films Never Been Kissed and Idle Hands.
Her big break came when James Cameron cast her in the lead role of the television series Dark Angel. She was cast because of her exotic looks and the fact that she was an emerging acting talent. She was nicknamed the “Shy Angel.” In print she has been the feature in such magazines as Teen and Vanity Fair. In 2001 she garnered her first award nomination as she was nominated for Best Actress in a Dramatic Television Series.
During the shooting of Dark Angel she became engaged to her Dark Angel co-star Michael Weatherly from 2001 to 2003. In 2004 she was seen dating Mark Wahlberg and made a cameo appearance on his show Entourage in 2004.
Jessica Alba is also a spokes model as the companies of L’Oreal and Feria have cashed in on her beauty to sell their products.
In 2003 Jessica took the lead role in the film Honey. 2005 was the biggest year of Jessica as she starred in two films which were box office hits. She played the role of stripper Nancy Callahan in the Robert Rodriguez directed film Sin City which had an all star cast which also included Bruce Willis, Benicio Del Toro, Clive Owen, and Mickey Rourke. Fantastic Four was also a hit in 2005 as she played one of the Fantastic Four for the film version of the popular comic book. She closed out 2005 with the film Into the Blue with Paul Walker.
