Jones Beach in New York
The beach has several entry points and there are several places to park but during the busy weekends it can be very difficult to find parking. You might have to walk several blocks to the beach from your parking. I suggest that the driver of the car drops people off right in front of the beach so that you don’t have to carry heavy beach chairs and umbrellas from your parking spot.
When you walk into the beach there are several tall mountains of sand that hold the lifeguard chairs for them to watch the people in the ocean. There are several lifeguards spaces a few feet apart for each area of the beach. They are very protective and on days where the waves come in high and the tide is strong they warn and tell the people and little kids not to go out very far in the ocean. The beach also has markings in the water that indicate how far you have gone so that you don’t drift too far out.
During the summer the beach gets very busy and everyone who goes there has a great time. If you go with friends you will have an even better time. There are beach volleyball courts in the sand in the back of the beach and there is also a wide open space to play games like football or have a catch.
There are clean bathrooms towards the back of the beach as well. There is also a boardwalk that contains several vendors selling soda, ice-cream, water, pretzels, hot dogs and various other items.
In the ocean there are some people who serfboard but most people just splash in the water or go for a swim. On same days there can be a lot of seeweed in the water but most days the water is clean and at a nice temperature especially if the sun is hot.
If you love beaches and the feel of sitting under a nice sun with the sand at yuor feet, I strongly encourage you to go to Jnoes Beach. If you go several times a week you get good money out of your summer pass that is good for June through August. Or if you want to try the beach out you can pay for a few days each time you go.
