Lawrence Kansas Hot Spots
First lets start with someplace for everyone, Liquid on 23rd street in Lawrence is a great place to go if you have anyone not twenty-one years old. This bar/dance club always has a good crowd and since anyone over eighteen can get in you get a good mix of all ages.
Liquid is comprised of two rooms, the first room is a bar with games and couches for you who like to relax, drink, and play some games. There are pool tables, dart boards, and even seating where you can play playstation for free. Every booth has a TV so you can watch the game or play video games. I like that they have all of these amenities, because not everyone likes to dance, so while others dance they can enjoy some games and relax.
On the other side of the wall there is the dance club, with two nice dance floors, including a catwalk for the ladies, and a newly added retro dance floor. Not the biggest dance floor but enough room to bump and grind a little. The club area is equipped with a full service bar and a beer island for quicker buying for you beer drinkers. Liquid also offers a heated smoking porch, which should make all the smokers happy.
The only problems I have with Liquid is the dance floor gets packed to tightly in the later hours of the night and you can’t really dance. As the night comes to a close the DJ always plays horrible music to clear out some of the crowd to make closing down easier.
Suggestions I have if you do decide to go to liquid, first get there early to avoid the long lines. If you get there past 11 you are going to wait in line for thirty minutes. Go to Liquid on Thursdays, its ladies night and ladies get in free. There are always lots of sexy college girls here on Thursday nights. One of my favorite things is that Liquid has free poker night on Friday nights, you can join and play for free and win prizes!

Next stop is on Mass street, Brother’s is the place to be here, Thursday thru Saturday this bar is packed to the max and always has a line of people waiting to get in. Brother’s is a bar and grill and during the day you can see the normal crowd of yuppies and regulars. At night it’s a different story, Brother’s turns it into the hottest spot on Mass to be. They always play good music, have great drinks and specials, and bring a good crowd.
Brother’s has the perfect mix of good music and cheap drinks that makes the college kids swarm, this place is always packed with Frat boys and Sorority girls. Good crowd mixed with some of the best drink specials around make this the place to be.
So what are the drink specials? Well Mondays you have $2 Absolute mixers and $5 pitchers! Yes that is right $5 pitchers, which might be the reason most professors lack half their classes on Tuesday mornings. Tuesday nights you have $1.50 pints and $1 wells. Wednesday is the night to come eat, they have ten cent wings coupled with $1.50 you call it. Thursday is jumbo long island tea night where for just $2.50 you can get one of the best long islands around, and the bartenders aren’t afraid to actually put liquor in your drink. Friday is $1 pucker shot night and Saturday is $2 jumbo hurricanes!
I would say Brother’s has the best drink specials overall, this is definitely the place to go if you want good music and cheap drinks, but you have to be twenty one to get in. This is the only downfall Brother’s has, other than if you don’t get there early you will wait in line for ever. But you can’t blame them for long lines, with drink specials like those you are going to draw a crowd nearly every night.

Cadillac Ranch or “The Ranch” is the place to go for the cheapest drinks on Thursday nights. $1 anything draws a capacity crowd plus normally a couple hundred extra anxiously waiting outside for their chance at cheap booze. The Ranch is located on 6th street, which is not a normal location for a club, but still they bring the customers in. The dance floor here is smaller than most of the girls outfits, and although The Ranch is typically a country bar you can expect to hear top 40 or hip hop on Thursday nights.
The Ranch is a very small bar and is always packed on Thursdays which makes it uncomfortable and very hot, but you are only there for one reason and that is $1 anything. So you will quickly forget that you are packed in tighter than Tuna fish. This is a great place for anyone on a budget, you can get drunk for cheap.
Suggestions I have is go early so what if the first hour is boring, at least you wont have to wait outside for an hour while its one in one out. The drinks are great, and you can’t go wrong with $1 anything, even Jager! I don’t suggest going to the Ranch any night other than Thursday, I have always been disappointed any other night I have gone.
