Learning About Intellectual Property Rights
What is intellectual property? Intellectual Property refers to any invention, idea or patent on something. That could be
a car, DVDs, or even medicine. The big problem is that bootlegged materials devestate the U.S. and fake drugs hurt peopl who think they are being cured from illnesses which they are not. So instead of getting a real cure for a simple disease like the flu, they are still infected by it and don’t get the proper treatment they need and some even die because of it.
In many third world countries like in Africa people import the fake and counterfeit drugs from China, thinking they have been cured of deadly diseases like malarai when in reality the drugs are nothing more than plecibos. People continue to buy these deadly drugs because they are cheaper than good from other developed nations and the people do not know any better.
Counterfiet items also hurt the U.S. economy.
Many people have been witnesses to counterfiet items that have seen being sold or recorded like someone illegally viedotaping a film in a movie theater or selling bootleg DVDs on the street corner. Counterfiet items devestate the economy. The production of cheap fake goods allows them to be sold at a much lower price than can be produced in the United Sates.
This has badly hurt U.S. industries as they have had to lay off hundreds of employees to make up for their loss of income. This has led to an increase in unemployment and a decrease in the amount of available jobs in the United States.
