Little Debbie snack cakes have been around for years and their popularity is not diminishing as time goes by. Instead, people have thought of more and more ways to use the little cakes, which come in various flavors. If you’d like to make some decadent desserts this summer, or any time of the year, try one of the recipes here.

Who doesn’t love Black Forest Cake? Purchase Little Debbie Chocolate Nut Loaves and cut each in half, lengthways. Scoop a nice amount of canned cherry pie filling onto a plate. Lay the bottom half of the cake on the cherries. Spread with whipped cream. Lay the other half of the chocolate cake on top of the whipped cream then add a spoon full of cherries on top. Instead of whipped cream you can also use cream cheese frosting, which is delicious with this recipe.

Make a variation of the Black Forest Cake by using the Blueberry Loaves or Banana Nut Loaves. For blueberry, cut in half, scoop canned blueberry pie filling onto the plate, and layer as you did the Black Forest Cake, using your choice of whipped cream or cream cheese frosting. For the banana cake, spread a little whipped cream or frosting onto a plate. Place the bottom half of a cake loaf on top. Spread with whipped cream or frosting, then place several banana slices on top. Now put the top half of the cake loaf on top, then more whipped cream or frosting. Arrange a couple of banana slices on top.

A small crockpot and Little Debbies make great fondue. Coat the inside of the crockpot with butter. Add eight 1oz milk chocolate candy bars, 3 T milk, and a cup and a half of mini marshmallows. Allow to cook on low, stirring every half-hour. When the mixture is smooth gradually add the whipping cream. Slice Little Debbie pound cakes and assorted fruits. Dip the fruits and cakes into the chocolate for a delicious fondue.

The pound cakes can also be used to make a luscious berry trifle. Prepare a box of instant vanilla pudding according to package instructions and refrigerate. After thawing packages of raspberries and strawberries (one 10oz package, each), drain syrup into a measuring cup and set aside. Place the raspberries and strawberries in a bowl and set aside.

Put a quarter cup of the syrup into a sauce pan and fold in a tablespoon of cornstarch. Stir in remaining syrup then bring to a boil over medium heat, until juice thickens and becomes clear. Cut pound cake into bite size pieces. Place half of the cake pieces into a large glass bowl. Layer with half the fruit and juice, then top with half of the pudding. Now add the remaining cakes, the remaining fruit and juice, the remaining pudding. Garnish with fresh blueberries and whipped cream.

A very easy recipe uses Little Debbie Chocolate Cakes to make a hot fudge sundae. Cut the cakes into fourths and arrange four pieces in the bottom of a bowl. Add ice cream and hot fudge. This can be done with other cakes, too, like the Raspberry Angel Food Cakes.

Cut Little Debbie Orange Cupcakes in half and place both halves in a bowl. Add orange sherbert, sprinkles, whipped cream, and other toppings. Do something similar with the Little Debbie Strawberry Cupcakes.
