Northeast Ohio comes alive in 2006 with new music venues and shows. By most accounts, Youngstown, the forgotten city, is coming alive. The cultural presence is growing in town where the steel mills have rusted away. Powers Auditorium

Philippe Quint, a young, Russian born violinist, brings his showmanship and compelling personality to Powers Auditorium on January 21. Join Philippe as he brings Mozart’s classic gaiety to center stage. Enjoy the grandeur, spirituality, and incomparable poignancy of Mozart’s best music.

Rodgers & Hammerstein’s landmark musical Oklahoma! conjures the sounds of the frontier on February 6 at Powers Auditorium. Get your tickets early for this lasting tasty, production.

Three Phantoms in Concert – Kevin Gray, Cris Groenendaal and Craig Schulman, sing selections from The Phantom of the Opera. Other selections on February 11 include “They Call The Wind Maria,” “Soliloquy” from Carousel, and “Brotherhood of Man.”

The Claremont Trio, which includes twin sisters Emily (violin) and Julie (Cello) Bruskin and pianist Donna Kwong, present Beethoven by Request at Powers Auditorium on February 25. The Claremont Trio was the first recipient of the Kalichstin-Laredo-Robinson (KLR) International Trio Award in 2004.

Rhythm of the Dance brings a two hour dance and music spectacular with Ireland’s heart-stopping musical culture to Powers Auditorium on March 20.

Arnaldo Cohen, the Brazilian-born pianist, brings his captivating music to Powers Auditorium on March 25. Listen to music made famous by the artists from the Romantic period to the twentieth century. Relax to works by Berlioz, Debussy, Tchaikovsky, and Stravinsky.

Fabio Bidini, pianist, has received first place honors in eleven of Italy’s most prestigious national piano competitions. Fabio has received top prizes in eight international competitions. Join him on April 22 as the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra celebrates their 80th season and Isaiah Jackson’s 10th year as Music Director.

Thoroughly Modern Millie, the winner of six Tony Awards, brings the Roaring 20’s to the stage at the height of the Jazz Age. Enjoy this madcap merriment on May 1-2 at Powers Auditorium.

Vocalists Lynn Roberts and Michael McGuire present the Big Band Sounds on May 6 at Powers Auditorium. Kick back and listen as the duo teams with the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra to in a salute to the big bands with such tunes as “Unforgettable,” “String of Pearls,” “Moonlight Serenade,” “Serenade in Blue,” “In The Mood,” “Stardust” and a special Sinatra medley.

Stambaugh Auditorium

Tom Tiratto pays tribute to Frank Sinatra on February 18. Tom is an actor and vocalist who has appeared at many of the finest venues in the U.S. and abroad. Join Tom and his orchestra for many of Sinatra’s signature hits including “New York – New York,” “My Kind of Town,” and “My Way.”

Jerry Seinfeld brings his stand-up comedy tour to Stambaugh on March 17. Join Jerry as he explores mundane topics in amazingly funny ways.

Rodney Carrington is funny as all get out. This side-splitting entertainer will be at Stambaugh on April 21. His second major label album has been released on Platinum Nashville.

Bring your dancing shoes and swoon to the Glenn Miller Orchestra big band sounds on May 18 at Stambaugh.

Join Fourteen time Grammy award winner Jimmy Sturr & His Orchestra on June 4 at Stambaugh. Get a double treat with special guests “Mr. Yakety Sax” Boots Randolph and the Del Sinchak Orchestra with The Sardich Singers.
